Championship Event Overview
Registration Fee: $185 per amateur and $235 per professional (includes range fees/lunches/prizes)
Entry Deadline: June 22
Format: 54-holes of stroke play with the lowest gross score determining the winner. Play is scheduled as follows: First round, 18-holes. Second round, 18-holes. The low 40 and ties continue to third round. Players will be re-paired according to 36-hole results.
Eligibility: Open to any male amateur who are members of a PAGA Member Club or an Individual Member of the PAGA and professionals residing in Pennsylvania. Amateurs need to have a USGA Handicap Index of 7.4 or lower. Residency NOT a requirement for professionals who are employed at a PAGA Member Club. The head golf professional of the host facility, if eligible, will be awarded an exemption into the field.
Weather: If a Championship/Qualifying course is declared unplayable and as a result it is not possible to complete play in the period in which the Championship/Qualifying is scheduled, the Championship/Qualifying shall NOT be extended beyond the last scheduled day and the winner/qualifiers shall be the individual(s) which returns the lowest score for the number of stipulated rounds played. The Committee may institute a change in the cut format in order to play the last stipulated round.
Field: Field is limited to approximately 120 entries. The field will consist of exempt and at large players. Each entrant, not exempt, shall compete in a sectional qualifying event to determine the 120-player field. At closing it will be determined how many spots are available for qualifying once exempt players have been identified.
Cart/Caddie: Automotive transportation is prohibited at the Championship Proper, but permitted at qualifying sites. Players must walk in the Open Championship. Players may walk and carry their own bag, bring their own caddie, or hire a club caddie. Please contact Matt Holmes via the proshop at 412-828-4653 to reserve a club caddie.
Food & Beverage: Lunch will be provided for players only on each day of the championship. Any additional food and beverage are available for purchase via cash. The lunch will be served from the nine stand (halfway) each day.

Practice Rounds: Will not be available.
Pairings: Play will be in threesomes at 10-minute intervals. First round results will determine second round pairings.
Spectators: Spectators will NOT be permitted; except that any player who requires assistance in transportation to the tournament site (juniors not of legal age to drive, no valid license, etc.) is permitted to authorize one and NOT more than one person to spectate at the event or, if applicable, only if such person is a member of the player’s immediate family and living in the same household as the player; provided that in all such circumstances such person may not provide any assistance to the player, may not indicate the line of play, may not handle the player’s clubs or equipment, and may not otherwise provide any services normally provided by a caddie, unless the player deems this person their caddie.

Attire: Oakmont Country Club dress code requires collared shirts or mock turtlenecks, slacks or shorts. Shorts are to be no more than one inch above the knee. Jeans and other denim clothing are not allowed anywhere on Club property. Gentlemen are required to remove hats on porches and in the clubhouse. Opened toed shoes/ flip flops for gentlemen are welcomed only at the pool.
Cell Phones: The use of cellular phones and other electronic communications devices are welcome to be used in the locker rooms, inside a vehicle, in the phone booth or the pool’s phone zone. The discreet, silent use of electronic devices is allowed. Acceptable electronic devices is defined as those no larger than an iPad. No laptops please. “Ringing” of devices are not allowed in any case—all devices must be placed on “silent.”
Golf Shop: The golf shop will be open throughout the championship.
Smoking: The entire indoor facilities of Oakmont Country Club are smoke free.
Start Times: The PAGA staff, following as closely as practical the preferences indicated on the entry form will determine pairings and tee times.
Ties: In the event of a tie for the lowest score in the Open Championship, a sudden-death playoff will be held following conclusion of play.
In the event of a tie for the final qualifying positions in an Open qualifier, the number of qualifying positions plus ties will gain entrance into the Championship Proper.
Prizes: The player returning the lowest 54-hole score will be awarded the title of Open Champion and his name engraved on the Arnold Palmer Trophy. Prizes will be awarded to the top six amateur contestants with the lowest scores. First place professional prize money: $8000
