North Las Vegas Open Recap

Aliante Golf Club

Sunday in Las Vegas brought with it gorgeous temperatures, sunny skies, and the Am Tour's season-opening North Las Vegas Open at Aliante Golf Club. When the smoke cleared and the champs were crowned, five players were clutching trophies while the rest were left to wonder what could have been.

The Championship flight was an easy win for Vegas newcomer Jeff Amidon. He didn't bring his best game with 80, but was uncontested in the flight and picked up the win.

The Hogan flight was far more crowded, as ten players vied fot the crown. Reigning Sr. Hogan Player of the Year Tony Becker was first to post with 79, and when 2018-19 Sr. Sarazen POY Dave Golder could manage only 83, and Steve Miller 84, Becker was back in the winner's circle.

In Sarazen, Dave Lapine's 89 was a good showing, but only enough for bridesmaid status as Canada's Dwain DeLoach swept in to earn the victory with an 82. This was DeLoach's first win on the young season.

The Jones flight wasn't in doubt for long, as Wayne Brown brought his usual steady game to town, and his 97 was good enough to earn the win. The California product is now one for one on the year.

The Snead flight was a battle of the Players of the Year, as Sr. Snead POY Bill Drayer was able to fend off Snead POY Sven Hallauer to earn the season-opening win. Drayer fired 97 for his win.

The Tour would like to thank Aliante Golf Club for their hospitality, and all the players and spectators who participated. The next stop on Tour is

The Legacy Challenge on November 16
