Pat O’Donnell shot 1-under par 71 in today’s second round of the 53rd Pacific Northwest Senior Men’s Amateur to pad his lead, and John Gallacher of Burnaby, B.C. held his lead in the 8th Super Senior Amateur by piecing together a round that included three birdies against four bogeys.

Today’s round was played at Semiahmoo Golf and Country Club in Blaine, Wash. The full fields played in ideal weather conditions.

O’Donnell was named the 2016 PNGA Senior Men’s Player of the Year, after winning the 2016 Oregon Senior Amateur and Oregon Senior Stroke Play. John Bracken of Seattle, who won this championship in 2015, had started the day tied with O’Donnell at 3-under, but came in with a 4-over 76 in today’s second round.

Bellevue’s Tom Brandes is now alone in second place after firing a 1-under 71 today. He is looking for his fourth title in this championship. He is the defending champion, and also took the title in 2012 and 2013.

In the Super Senior Amateur, Gallacher held on to his spot at the top of the leader board, firing a 1-over par 73 today to follow up on his 1-under yesterday. He stands at even par after two rounds, and has a 2-shot lead over Gudmund Lindbjerg of Port Moody, B.C.

Gallacher birdied his final hole today, a 345-yard par-4, and is hoping the momentum will carry him through tomorrow’s final round.

The two championships are being conducted concurrently by the Pacific Northwest Golf Association. Yesterday’s first round was played at nearby Loomis Trail Golf Club, and tomorrow’s final round will also be played at Loomis Trail.
