About the IWGA

The Illinois Women’s Golf Association was established in 1933 for the specific task of conducting the Illinois State Women's Amateur Championship.

Over the years, the Illinois State Junior Girls' Amateur Championship and the Illinois State Senior Women's Amateur
Championship were added providing thousands of women and junior girls the opportunity to play the game they love in a competitive and fun atmosphere.

In addition to conducting the State Championships, the IWGA began charitable efforts during World War II to support the troops. Clubs would run local "Victory Tournaments" to raise funds that would then be combined to provide significant financial support to worthy causes. Today this program is called the "Victory Fund" and has the focus of supporting the women and girls of Illinois who love this honorable game.

Today, the IWGA annually awards over $28,000, including one or more individual college scholarship(s) as well as grants to collegiate women’s golf programs across the state.

The funding for these awards is completely dependent on the generous donations from individuals, clubs and golf organizations to the IWGA Victory Fund. The IWGA receives no funding from other local or national bodies that govern golf and our board members are totally volunteer, funding all of their own expenses, ensuring that every penny that comes in goes directly to supporting our mission. The IWGA represents all women golfers in Illinois, private/public, junior/senior and everything in between.

Collegiate golf program in Illinois? No problem we can help you too. As a group we are committed to ensuring that women continue to have opportunities to play and enjoy this great game.

To fulfill our mission, we need the continued support from players and clubs and individuals who understand how important the game of golf is. There is no other sport where honor and integrity supersede winning and where friends can do fierce battle while remaining friends.

There are many ways to contribute to this organization. You can donate your time as a board member or volunteer at one of our championships. You can contribute to the Victory Fund directly or via the John Deere Classic Birdies for Charity program or you can offer to be the liaison between your golf club or organization and the IWGA.
