WMGA Tee Policy
(updated 10/7/2024)
The Default Tee for Male golfers is the Medal Tee unless otherwise designated by the Tournament Committee
In Mixed Tee events, play from the JONES, MATCH, SARAZEN, FORWARD and PLAYER tees will be allowed based on the following criteria:
- JONES Tees: Age + Index ≥ 65
- MATCH Tees: Age + Index ≥ 75
- SARAZEN. Tees: Age + Index ≥ 85
- FORWARD Tees: Age + Index ≥ 95
- PLAYER Tees: Age + Index ≥ 105
There is no rounding for either age, index or total… If you are 60 years and 6 months, you are 60. And, if your index is 4.5, your total is 64.5 and you are still MEDAL (BLUE) tees.
MIXED TEE EVENT - All players are in the same tournament and all prize money is split across all players. This format would cover events such as a scramble event and most Match play type events (Woodmont Cups, Thursday League, etc.).
FIXED TEE EVENTS – Here, all play is to be from one set of tees. This would be events such as championship flight in Club Championships, Cross-Country, Red/White/Blue, etc.
The player(s) must designate what tees they wish to play from at the time they register to play in a tournament. A player that meets the criteria is not required to play from the JONES/MATCH/S./FORWARD ARAZEN or PLAYER Tees. A player may always play a longer but not a shorter course.
For Tournaments and other handicapped events (Thursday League, Woodmont Cup, etc.) if there are any questions regarding tee eligibility, The Handicap Committee and Pro Shop will determine if the player is eligible to play from these tees. Players may also use myTee to determine tee eligibility. https://www.mygolfapps.com/mytee
