Sunday, May 5th wil be 18 Holes of Fourball (best ball) play. There are two divisions, Gross and Net. Within each division are two flights by handicap determined by Golf Genius. Each two-man team will keep their gross only score on their tournament scorecard. Each team is required to pass their scorecard over to their competitors. Scorecards must be signed, attested and returned to the pro shop for official scoring at the conclusion of play. Golf Genius will post your score directly to your GHIN.
This event will pay $30 to each first place finisher and $20 to each second place finisher. That is applicable to all divisions and all flights for a total of $400 to be dispensed from the GHMA general fund. All monetary amounts will be issued in terms of pro-shop credit to the head pro Ken Gemmell. |

For this event there is one net division with no flights, 100% handicap is applied. Lone Ranger format is a fun game that is played with foursomes. Every hole, one player in the foursome is assigned to be the Lone Ranger. On the 1st hole, player in position 1 in the pairings will act as the Lone Ranger. On the 2nd hole, player in position 2 in the pairings will act as the Lone Ranger. On the 3rd, player in position 3. On the 4th, player in position 4. The cycle then repeats throughout the rest of the round. When playing this format, you will count the Lone Ranger's ball as well as the best ball of the other 3 players. So, two balls will be counted on each hole. Highlighted scorecards will be available in the pro shop, please enter gross scores only. A standard Grassy Hill Scorecard is also sufficient. Week 14: Team Quota Grassy Hill Country Club, Orange, CT Wednesday July 31st – Sunday August 4th
General Information: The Rules of Golf as adopted by the United States Golf Association govern play. This information sheet, the USGA Hard card, and any site specific Local Rules and Conditions of Competition sheets are supplements to the Rules of Golf. Local Rules of Grassy Hill Country Club will apply as noted.
Event Details: There is one division – Team Quota. There will be three flights by handicap determined by Golf Genius. Each member will keep their gross only scores on their scorecard. A standard Grassy Hill Scorecard is sufficient. Scorecards must be signed, attested and returned to the Pro-shop post round for official scoring. Golf Genius will post your score directly to your GHIN. Members age 65 and over may play from Green tees. All other member may choose to play White or Blue tees. Please note on scorecard tees played, last name and GHIN number. Each two-man team will subtract their combined course handicap from 72, and what remains is the point total (quota) they must beat during the round. The winner is the team who exceeds their quota by the most. For each hole points are awarded based on the following scoring format - Quota Format: Ace = 10. Double Eagle = 7. Eagle = 4. Birdie = 3. Attire & Footwear Proper golf attire is required at all time by players. Shorts must be bermuda length. Shirts must have a collar and be tucked in. Jeans of all kinds, cargo pants/shorts, tee shirts and tank tops are prohibited. Hats must be worn in a traditional manner. Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course) are prohibited during the stipulated round. Penalty for breach of this condition is disqualification.
Distance Measuring Devices: For all play in GHMA events a player may obtain distance information using a device that measures distance only.
Local Rules: Due to some bare spots, please play preferred lies in your own fairway. Outside of your own fairway the ball should be played as it lies.
All stone walls on the golf course have been determined to be integral parts of the course and are not immovable obstructions. Play the ball as it lies or take an un-playable lie with penalty. These stone walls are located but not limited to, along the left side of Hole 2, the stone wall that separates 12, 15, & 16, and the right of hole 16.
For hole #10, if a ball comes to rest between the greenside curbing (blue line) and white stakes, a free lift is permitted but the ball must be dropped in a designated drop area. If a ball comes to rest between the white stakes and the Clark Lane (includes property across the street) the ball must be dropped in a designated drop area with a one stroke penalty. This rule is for GHMA events and may defer from what is written on the Grassy Hill scorecard. This rule will be posted on bulletin board outside the pro-shop.
Relief may be obtained from concrete, blacktop, gravel, and mulch cart paths under the following conditions: areas adjacent to cart paths if the lie, stance, or swing is affected by loose gravel, areas worn by cart traffic, areas not healed by construction or washed out by weather. Also includes flower beds and landscaped areas enclosed by cart paths.
New Stroke and Distance Local Rule has been adopted for all GHMA events. See attached PDF for further explanation. This rule will be posted on bulletin board outside the pro-shop.
Trophies & Prizes: This event will pay $30 to each first-place finishers and $20 to each second place finishers.
