This is a fun tournament to welcome any new or prospective members and to play an early season round of golf with the men's club members. The Tournament is open to new members, previous associate members, and current members if they plan on bringing a guest. There will not be an entry fee but award cash prizes for 8 CTPs and gross team skins.

 

FORMAT: Scramble - Two man teams - Tournament Director will pair you with your guest (please add your guest to the event roster as part of the sign-up process) or with other non-paired entrants as needed. 

 

CTP:  #2, 3, 6, 8, 13, 15, 17, and 18. - The closest to the pin on all 8 of the par 3's will receive a $25 gift certificate.  Tee shot must end up on the putting surface.  Hole in one pot is NOT in effect for this tournament.
 

Gross Team Skins - no entry fee is required to participate this year. Winners will evenly split the pot.

The annual HMGC Kick-off banquet is being held on Friday, April 13th at 6pm.  This is an excellent opportunity for new members to meet and socialize with existing club members, and for existing members to meet new members.  The club is providing a meal and a cash bar will be available.  The club will also conduct a brief business meeting, present trophies for 2018 club champions and match play winners, and conduct a raffle.  Total prizes valued at over $1,000 will be raffled -- raffle prize tickets will be available to purchase. Also significant rules changes will be in effect starting in 2019, so learn about the updated rules.

 

At the Kick-Off banquet you will have the opportunity renew your membership and sign-up for the hole-in-one pot, match play, 2-man team match play, and check-in for the 4-Man Scramble being played on Saturday, April 13th.  You will also have the opportunity to pay your green fees at the Pro Shop for Saturday's tournament.

FORMAT: 4-Man Scramble (ABCD). Teams will consist of four-player, computer-generated teams ("A", "B", "C" and "D") and they will be listed in that order on the scorecard. If you signup a guest you will be paired.

 

TEEING GROUNDS:  All players will tee off from the Blue Tees.

SCORING: Each player will hit their tee shot and the team will mark and count the one best shot. Each player can then lift, clean and place their ball at the mark, no closer to the hole. Each player then hits their next shots from that spot. This process continues for each shot through the green. Players may not improve their lie; e.g. from native to rough or rough to fairway or fringe to green, etc. Each player’s drive must be used a MINIMUM of 3 times. Low team gross score for 18 holes will be the winner. The "A" player is responsible for recording the score, signing the scorecard and making the final decision regarding whose ball will be played on each shot of each hole.

 

Since this is a shotgun start it is highly advised to pay for your green/cart fees the day before the event.  You can pay at the kickoff banquet or anytime during the week before Saturday.

Please pay Green Fees in the Pro Shop.  Tournament entry fees (cash or check) are paid at the tournament sign-in table at the kick-off banquet or on the day of the tournament.  Make your check payable to: Homestead Men's Golf Club OR HMGC.

 

Check-in table opens 90 minutes before the shotgun start and will close 45 minutes before the shotgun start. Score Cards, COP sheets and Pin sheets are available at the check-in table. Scores will be posted at the conclusion of the round.

PARIMUTUEL BETTING:  New this year!  You will have the opportunity to place bets on which team or teams you think will finish first, second or third in the event (win, place or show).  It is just like going to the horse track or the dog track. Wager from $2 to $20 on your team or any other team to win, place or show.  Betting will be available at the kickoff banquet Friday night as well as the morning of the event before the shotgun start.

FORMAT: 2 Man Team best ball. Tournament will be flighted with blind drawn partners randomly selected within the flight after the round. Handicapped best ball scores will be calculated after the partners are selected.

Ringer - Gross Tournament

The ringer tournament is where the best gross score posted on each hole by a golfer over ten rounds throughout the 2019 season is added up for one composite18-hole score. This tournament will have no flights each entrant will compete against the field. Sign-up deadline is 6/1/2019.The paid number of winners depends on the number of entrants. 2019 Homestead Men’s Club Match Play

 

1. Please anticipate three 8-man match play brackets for 2019, with the winners of each bracket playing each other for the overall Homestead Match Play Champion.   The 3 brackets are:

1. Lower GHIN Scratch Match Play (from the black tees)
2. Lower GHIN Net Match Play (from the blue tees)
3. Higher GHIN Net Match Play (from the blue tees)

NOTE:  If enough participants do not sign up, there will be 1 net bracket instead of 2, with the first 8 players who sign up guaranteed to be in the net bracket.  Close date is Sunday, April 28th.

 

2. Each match play bracket is a double-elimination format so everyone is guaranteed at least 2 matches.  It is a $25 entry fee, with a one-bracket-limit per player.   Please sign-up at the kick-off banquet, through our website, through an email to me, or at the tournament sign-in desk at our 4/13 or 4/28 tournaments.  Please pay your entry fee promptly as no pay, no play.  Payouts are to the top 3 winners in each bracket, and the payouts are in cash!  ($100 / $67 / $33)

 

3. The winners of each bracket will square-off in a net match-play match in Sept/Oct for the overall Homestead Men’s Club Match Play Champion.  The winner receives an extra $50 and their name on our Match Play plaque!  Second place wins $25 if there are 3 players in this final match.

 

4. To ensure timely completion of the match play brackets, all first round matches, and all the first round matches in the 2nd chance bracket will be automatically set-up for pre-set play dates in May (on the weekends).  Other arrangements can be made by the players to play those matches prior to the set dates; however, delays in playing these matches will not be accepted.  A coin flip will decide the match instead.  No exceptions.  Thanks in advance for your cooperation on this!!

 

5. All Matches are played according to the current USGA Rules of Golf, including Rule 2 - Match Play.  Please note the rules and penalties for Match Play can differ from Stroke Play, and it’s the player’s responsibility to know the differences.  Please refresh your memory as it’s not hard!  Any disputes will be resolved by the Rules Committee. 

 

6. One key difference in match play vs. stroke play is the player who is out (even if on the green and their opponent is off the green) should play next; unless both players agree otherwise.

 

7. When scoring a net match; subtract the lower course handicap from the higher course handicap, with the difference being the number of strokes given to the higher handicap player.  Strokes are then awarded on the corresponding hardest holes as noted on Homestead’s scorecard.

 

8. For net match-play, players convert their GHIN to the Homestead Blue Tees course handicap, based on the conversion charts located on our website or by the ATM in the clubhouse.

 

9. If a match is tied after 18 holes, please continue with a “sudden death” match on the 1st or 10th hole (strokes fall where they may) at the sole discretion of the pro shop or starter.  If the course is not available (dark, bad weather, full) please arrange to finish the match as soon as possible.

 

10. Please indicate match results on the match play bracket on the Men’s Club bulletin-board. Please notify Ron Hilsenhoff ronhilsenhoff@yahoo.com with your match results. 

 

11. Except for #4 above, opponents will arrange matches based on both players availability to play.  Both parties are responsible for setting up matches.  The tournament director will help ensure the timeliness of completed matches throughout the summer as necessary.  All brackets are set for finish by Labor Day weekend, with some flexibility for unforeseen circumstances.

2019 Homestead Men’s Club 2-Man Team Competition

 

1. Experience team golf at its varied best, and compete in an entertaining and challenging 2-man team competition throughout the summer.  A $25 entry fee per player - $50 per team.  All payouts made to the winners are in cash!  The sign-up deadline for this competition is Sunday May 11th.
2. The following 18-hole, 2-man team competition NET events (4 of them) are played by your 2-man team throughout the summer:

1. Chapman                                             c)  Modified Alternate Shot    
2. 2-Man Scramble                                d)  2-Man Better Ball

It is your choice on when you play the 4 events, and in which order you play them!!  For the 2 qualifying teams in each division, the playoffs are scheduled for later in September.

3. Please sign-up at our kick-off banquet, at our website, at our first 3 tourneys, or by sending an email to me.
4. Teams have a choice of 3 divisions (and playing from their associated tees) – A Black Tee Division, a Blue Tee Division, and a Silver Tee Division.  The number of teams in each division is based on each team’s preference at sign-up, with potential adjustments as necessary/agreed-upon.  The number of teams in each division can vary as long as we have at least 4 teams in each division.  The payouts for each division will also vary based on the number of teams and the total pool of money.  More later on the payouts in each division after all teams have signed up.  My contact information is ronhilsenhoff@yahoo.com and 720-251-9518.
5. All 4 events are scored as net events.  The rules for each event and your 4 scorecards are included in your team packets after you sign-up and pay.  Please turn your scores in promptly after each event.
6. Your team competes against all other teams in your division for each of the 4 qualifying events.   It’s not a head-to-head competition, as your scores are stack-ranked against all of your division rivals.    
7. The 2-man team with the best event score, in each of the divisions, for each of the 4 events, wins $20 extra ($10 per player).  These extra payouts are provided to you by the Men’s club!!
8. Your 2-man team can play anytime during the summer to better fit your schedules, and you can play the 4 events in any order you wish.  This flexibility should help with your scheduling.  In addition, we have a 2-Man Chapman, a 2-Man Scramble, and a 2-Man Alternate Shot tournament scheduled separate from this 2-man competition.  This allows you to “double-up” and count the scheduled tourney towards this competition too.
9. Your timing requirements are:  1 of your events completed by the end of June, 2 of your events completed by the end of July, and all 4 of your events completed by Labor Day Weekend.  I will send out reminders. 
10. For scoring/attest purposes, you need to have someone else play with you to witness your 2-man results & sign your card.  Please find a playing/attest partner(s) in the following order of preference:

1. another team in the 2-man team competition
2. anyone in the Homestead Men’s Club
3. anyone associated with The Homestead Golf Course or another Homestead club
4. the “general public” playing with you who understands and is willing to attest to your score

11. After your 4 qualifying events are completed by Labor Day Weekend, the top 2 teams in each division win a spot in the playoffs; which is a 2-Man Better-Ball, Match-Play format.   Payouts to the winners are in cash!!!
12. It’s “Rub of the Green” regarding weather conditions and pin placements when playing your 4 events.  No cancelling your round once you have started, unless it’s rained-out or it is otherwise considered unplayable.
13. If your 2-man partner is injured, has a significant illness, or cannot play in your events due to unforeseen circumstances; a comparable, new-player substitute is allowed.  Please work with the tournament director.

Ringer - Net Tournament

FORMAT: Modified Alternate Shot - 2 Man Team Competition.  Teams will be players with similar course handicaps (10 strokes or less difference).  Teams will be flighted by handicap.  Each player on the team hits a tee shot on every hole.  After selecting the preferred tee shot, the other player will hit from that point.  All subsequent shots will be alternated until the ball is holed.  The team handicap will be the sum of 60% of the lower course handicap plus 40% of the higher handicap.  A minimum of 6 tee shots must be used by each player.  Low net team scores determine the winners.  Tee times start at 1:03 pm.

Member Guest

FORMAT:  A 2-Man Better Ball Teams scored at 100% handicap stroke play.  Each team must record the better of their 2 net scores on each hole.  Team flighting will be based on the combined team handicap.  Your guest (male) must be at least 18 years of age.  Your guest should have an established GHIN (or an acceptable software equivalent - please ask tournament director if OK) Guests without an established handicap we will use the Callaway system to determine their handicaps based on their score after the round.  The teams with the lowest net scores (two partner better-ball total) will be the winners in each flight.

GUEST REGISTRATION: Registered members follow the prompts to add you guest information.  If you have any issues please add a comment to the tournament director in the box below, with your guest's name, email, and GHIN number if they have one.

FORMAT: A 2-man team scramble event.  Enter with a partner or the Tournament Director will pair you with a partner (comparable GHIN - 10 stroke difference or less).  Team handicaps are determined by 60% of the course handicap for the low handicap partner; and 40% for the high handicap partner.  

TEEING GROUNDS/FLIGHTS:  Teams will be assigned to 3 flights based on overall team handicaps and the Tournament Director's  discretion (due to the potential for GHIN variances and to assist teams competing in the year-long 2-man team competition).    A Flight - Blue Tees;   B flight - Blue Tees;   C flight - Silver Tees

Must be over 50, or turn age 50 anytime in the year 2019, to play in this event.

FORMAT: One day flighted individual stroke event where each contestant plays at 100% of their course handicap.

TEE BOXES: A Flight - Blue, B Flight - Blue, C Flight - Silver. There will be three flights and they will play from the Blue and Silver tees. The Senior Champion will be the eligible player with the lowest gross score from the Blue tees. The Net Senior Champion will be the lowest net score from any tee box.  Players from the Blue tees will receive an extra stoke as compensation for playing for the overall net senior championship.

ENTRY FEE:   $15 for all participants

CTPs: #3, #6, and #13.   A voluntary $3 cash entry fee.

SKINS:  Net skins within flight.   A voluntary $5 cash entry fee.

GLORY HOLE:  Glory Hole #17.   A voluntary $2 cash entry fee.

New members must have played in 3 previous 2019 tournaments to be crowned gross or net Senior Champion.

Master Senior Championship
You must be 62 or older, or turn age 62 anytime during 2019; to compete for the Master Senior Championship. 

FORMAT:  Stroke Play Tournament with 100% of handicaps in effect.  The Gross Master Champion is the low gross score from the blue tees. The Net Champion will be the low net score from either tee box.  We will be playing the back 9 first and finishing on the ninth hole.

New members must have competed in 3 prior events to qualify for the Master Senior Champion.

TEE BOXES: Players with a course handicap lower than 21 will play from the Blue tees - Players with a course handicap 21 or higher will play from the Silver tees.  Players from the blue tees will receive 1 extra stoke as compensation.  

ENTRY FEE:   $15 for all participants

Club Championship - Two Day Tournament

This is a two day registration - both Saturday and Sunday

FORMAT: This is a two-day flighted individual stroke event where each contestant plays at 100% of their course handicap.  Players may sign up for one or both of the following competitions:  Gross Club Champion and Net Club Champion at the start of the tournament.  The tournament committee will use TPP to initially flight all participants. 

Note:  You can enter this tournament and you can win flight money but you cannot be crowned as the CHAMPION unless you have played in 4-5 tournaments this season as per Club guidelines (see below).

TEE BOXES: There will be 3 flights and we will play from the Black, Blue and Silver tees.  The Gross Club Champion will be the eligible player with the lowest gross score from the Black tees.  The Net Club Champion will be the lowest net score from any of the 3 tees.  If your course index indicates you should play from the Blue tees and you wish to play for the Gross Club Championship, you MUST play from the Black tees and inform the tournament director of such at check-in (or before).  Since there is only 1 net winner in the competition, players playing from the Black tees will have 2.5 added to their index (rounded up to 3) each day, and players playing from the Blue tees will have 1.2 added to their index (rounded down to 1) each day for net champion scoring purposes.  This is covered by USGA handicap rules section 3.5.

SATURDAY SHOTGUN START:  Since Saturday morning is a shotgun start, please pay your green fees in advance (if at all possible) to avoid long lines in the pro shop.  And please pay for both Sat. and Sun. at the same time.  When you register for the tournament at the check-in desk Saturday morning, you also will be paying for both days.  Thanks!

Club Championship Member Participation:

New members  who came into the club with no handicap require a minimum of 5 tournament scores played in the current year to qualify for either the Gross or Net Club Champion.

* New Members who came into the club with a current handicap would require 4 tournament scores played in the current year to qualify for either the Gross or Net Club Champion..
* Returning members require a minimum of 5 tournament scores from the last 2 years, 3 of which must have occurred this year.
* A tournament constitutes playing in any regular, senior, invitational, individual match play, or team match play tournament. Also counted would be tournaments where a player is registered in an event against another club and is bumped because of insufficient opposing players.
* The board of directors has the final say and can vote to allow a player to be eligible for either Club Championship.

Club Championship - Two Day Tournament

 

No sign-up required, automatically entered if registered for Day 1

 

FORMAT: This is a two-day flighted individual stroke event where each contestant plays at 100% of their course handicap.  Players may sign up for one or both of the following competitions:  Gross Club Champion and Net Club Champion at the start of the tournament.  The tournament committee will use TPP to initially flight all participants. 

Note:  You can enter this tournament and you can win flight money but you cannot be crowned as the CHAMPION unless you have played in 4-5 tournaments this season as per Club guidelines (see below).

TEE BOXES: There will be 3 flights and we will play from the Black, Blue and Silver tees.  The Gross Club Champion will be the eligible player with the lowest gross score from the Black tees.  The Net Club Champion will be the lowest net score from any of the 3 tees.  If your course index indicates you should play from the Blue tees and you wish to play for the Gross Club Championship, you MUST play from the Black tees and inform the tournament director of such at check-in (or before).  Since there is only 1 net winner in the competition, players playing from the Black tees will have 2.5 added to their index (rounded up to 3) each day, and players playing from the Blue tees will have 1.2 added to their index (rounded down to 1) each day for net champion scoring purposes.  This is covered by USGA handicap rules section 3.5.

SATURDAY SHOTGUN START:  Since Saturday morning is a shotgun start, please pay your green fees in advance (if at all possible) to avoid long lines in the pro shop.  And please pay for both Sat. and Sun. at the same time.  When you register for the tournament at the check-in desk Saturday morning, you also will be paying for both days.  Thanks!

Chapman

 

FORMAT: This is a Chapman 2-Man Team Competition Tournament.  Both players tee off and then switch balls and hit their partner's drive.  Player A plays Player B's drive, and vice-versa.  After each player has hit their second shots, the team selects the preferred second shot.  From that point until the ball is holed they alternate shots.  A least 6 drives must be used from each player on the team. 

HANDICAPS: Teammates should be within 10 strokes handicap-wise to be paired together.  The Tournament Director will select players into 2-man teams or pick your own partner and let us know.  The player with the lower Course Handicap is given 60 percent of their Course Handicap. The player with the higher Course Handicap is given 40 percent.  The 2 handicaps are combined for a team handicap.

Example: Player A has a Course Handicap of 10 and Player B has a Course Handicap of 18.   60% of Player A's Course Handicap is 6 (10 x 60%) and 40% of Player B's Course Handicap is 7.2 (18 X 40%).  The combined total is 13.2; rounded down to a team handicap of 13 strokes.

 

TEEING GROUNDS:  A Flight - Black Tees;   B Flight - Blue Tees;   C Flight - Silver Tees

ENTRY FEE:  $15 for all participants

CTP's:  #3, #6, and #18.  A voluntary $3 cash entry fee.  Your tee shot must come to rest on the putting surface.

GLORY HOLE: Hole #15.  A voluntary $2 cash entry fee. Your tee shot must come to rest on the putting surface.

2 Man Scramble-Alt Shot-Best Ball

 

FORMAT: 2-Man Teams.  You may select your own partner, or have one assigned, but a maximun 10 stroke handicap differential is allowed.  Above that, the higher is reduced to the 10 stroke differential.  2 Man Teams are assigned to 2 Flights with the format as follows:

Holes 1-6    SCRAMBLE:  With 25% of the aggregated handicap used.  Use at least 2 tee shots by each player.  Preferred lies allowed/no terrain improvements

Holes 7-12  ALTERNATE SHOT:   A Modified Alternate shot format on each hole.  Both players tee off on each hole. Pick preferred drive and alternate shots until the ball is holed.  33% of the average handicap for the two-team members will be pre-marked on the scorecard.  Use at least 2 tee shots by each player.

Holes 13-18  BEST BALL:  30% of individual handicaps. 

Note: Fractional strokes are rounded to the nearest tenth (0.1 stroke) for each format.

TEEING GROUNDS:   A Flight - Blue Tees     B Flight - Silver Tees

4-Club, Roaming Tee Box
 

The Format is individual stroke play divided into flights with full handicaps in effect.  Players must play with only 4 selected clubs in their bag.  In addition, each player selects which tee box to play from on each hole, but they must meet the following requirements.

3 times from Black tees
6 times from Blue tees
3 times from Silver tees
6 times from Gold tees

ENTRY FEE:  Club is paying $10 of your entry fee!!!  ONLY $5 to enter ($15 is still going towards prize money)

SKINS: Net skins per flight.  A voluntary $5 cash entry fee

CLOSEST-TO-THE-PIN:  #2, #8, and #17    A voluntary $3 cash entry fee.  Your tee shot must come to rest on the putting surface.

There will be two teams that will be paired up against each other in combined individual matches and better ball matches in the same foursome, just like the CGA interclub is played (6 points per foursome).  We will split up the registered golfers into A, B and C players according to their handicaps.  The teams will be created by Ray Cravy as one captain (by virtue of his win in this year's club championship), and Tommy Menten as the second captain, drafting the players by alternate selection with each team having an equal number of A, B and C golfers.  Entry fee will be $20 per golfer and the winning team wins the pot.  Optional $10 Closest to the Pin on all eight par threes.
