2025 BDGA Boys' & Girls' Junior Match Play Championship

Terms of the Competition

ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to all junior golfers (boys and girls) within the BDGA region who are 18 years old or younger as of July 15, 2025.

  • Membership: All players must have an active USGA Handicap Index at a BDGA Member Club or reside within the BDGA territory and have an active GHIN Handicap through the NYSGA eClub of Western New York (Free for Juniors). Canadian citizens must belong to a BDGA member club.

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Entry Fee: $55. This includes green fees, lunch and prizes.
  • Entry Fee (Girls): $0. Entry fees for junior girls entering the 2025 BDGA Junior Match Play are covered by the Diane Fermoile-McAvoy fund. 
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on July 10, 2025). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Refund Policy:

    • Withdrawal PRIOR TO entry deadline: Entry fee less $20

    • Withdrawal AFTER entry deadline: Entry fee less $50

    • Withdrawal WITHIN 2 DAYS of the competition: No Refund

 

FORMAT

The format is 18 holes of stroke play (qualifier), with qualifying players advancing to match play. Girls' Sub-Junior golfers will play a 9-hole qualifier and matches.

 

DIVISIONS

There are four divisions:

  • Boys' Junior Division (ages 15-18)
  • Boys' Sub-Junior Division (ages 14 & Under)
  • Girls' Junior Division (ages 15-18)
  • Girls' Sub-Junior Division (ages 14 & under)

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The BDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

 

TIES

If there is a tie for the winner in any division, a sudden-death will be used unless it is impossible due to darkness or course unavailability. Otherwise, ties will be broken using the USGA method of matching scorecards, which compares the last nine holes (10-18), then last six holes (13-18), last three holes (16-18), and last hole (18)

Qualifying Round // Tuesday, July 15 // Tee Times begin 9:00am

Round of 16 // Wednesday, July 16 //  Morning matches 8:00am

Round of 8 // Wednesday, July 16 // Afternoon matches 12:00pm 

Semifinals // Thursday, July 17 // Morning matches 8:00am

Finals // Thursday, July 17 // Afternoon matches 1:30pm

 

TEE TIME REQUESTS
The BDGA will make every effort to accommodate tee time requests, which must be submitted no later than 12PM on Thursday, July 10th (click here). Pairing requests will not be accepted.

 

TEAM NEW YORK

This is a 2026 Team New York Counting Event

 

 

RANKINGS

The 2025 BDGA Junior Match Play Championship is a World Amateur Golf Ranking ranked event.

 

 

EXEMPTIONS
The winner and runner-up of the Boys 18U Division will be exempt into the 2026 NYS Boys' 18U Junior Amateur Championship.
