2025 TOURNAMENT CRITERIA (100 PLAYER FIELD)

We are excited to announce the criteria for the 4th Annual GolfBC Group BC Women’s Open, set to be staged at the world-renowned Nicklaus North Golf Course in Whistler, BC.

 

The 2025 GolfBC Group BC Women’s Open is a professional golf championship for both Amateurs and Professionals scheduled for June 5-7th at Nicklaus North (Whistler) and will serve as the first sanctioned Championship on Golf Canada’s She Plays Golf Championship Series.

 

For 2025, the BC Women’s Open will offer two championships:

 

  • A 54-Hole Elite Championship (June 5-7th)
    • Offering a $60,000 CAD purse for a field of 60 professionals and elite amateurs (4.0 index & less).
  • The winner of the 2025 GolfBC Group BC Women’s Open earn an exemption to play in the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open on the LPGA Tour, set for the Mississaugua Golf & Country Club on Aug.20-24th, 2025.

  • The top player at the end of the 2025 She Plays Golf Championship Series will also qualify for the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open (if not already qualified)
  • The 54-hole Championship will carry official WAGR (World Amateur Golf Ranking) points.

  • A 36-Hole Flighted Championship (June 5-6th)
    • Open to Senior Amateurs (55+years) & golfers with a handicap index of 4.1 to 26.0.
    • The max field for this event is 40 players.

 

Registration opens for both events on Thursday, March 13th, 2025.

 

The Tournament Committee will begin approving registrations at such a time and begin processing entry fees on March 15th for those players with priority consideration. The final field will be set on May 22nd, 2025.

 

EVENT DETAILS

54-HOLE ELITE CHAMPIONSHIP

The 54-Hole Elite Championship is scheduled on June 5-7th and is comprised of professionals and amateurs (4.0 or less) with a full field of 60 players (and a cap of 30% international players). Invitees are selected based on their competitive record in major events and World Amateur Ranking per the below criteria. The Invitational Committee reserves the right to select one Sponsor invitation in each division (Professional and Amateur) as well as determine the final division field sizes to maximize the overall strength of the field.

 

There will be a cut after 36-holes to the top 25 players and ties.

 

Applicants from the following criteria listed below are given priority consideration until April 15th:

 

Professional

  • Canadians ranked in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings
  • Top 10 professional finishers at the 2024 GolfBC Group BC Women’s Open
  • Top 5 professional finishers at 2024 ORORO PGA Women’s Championship of Canada at TPC Toronto
  • Top 5 finishers at the 2024 Glencoe Invitational
  • Active Epson, LET and LPGA Members
  • Canadians playing WAPT, Cactus and NXXT Women’s Pro Tours in 2023/2024 or

        Stage 1 2023 LPGA and Epson Tour Qualifying Tournament players

  • 2024 CPKC Women’s Open Monday qualifiers or exempt players
  • Past GolfBC Group Women’s Open Champions (’22, ’23 & ‘24)

 

Amateur

 

  • Top 30 Canadians on WAGR (as of March 1st, 2025)
  • 2024 BC Women's Amateur Champion
  • 2024 Alberta Women’s Amateur Champion
  • Canadians in the Top 10 in the 2024 Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship, presented by BDO
  • Top 5 Amateur finishers at the 2024 GolfBC Group Women’s Open
  • Past BC Women’s Open Amateur Champions (’22, ’23, ‘24)
  • Team Canada and NextGen team members

 

If the field is not full with priority listed individuals by the end of the day on April 15th, players that have pre-registered (that are not on the priority consideration list) will be admitted into the field in priority of their WAGR rank and golf resume. The tournament committee will review all applications in order to maximize the overall strength of the field.

 

36-HOLE CHAMPIONSHIP (FLIGHTED & SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP)

The 36-Hole Flighted Championship is scheduled on June 5 & 6th at Nicklaus North Whistler and is comprised of Senior Amateurs (55+) and female amateurs with handicap index ranges of 4.1 to 26.0. The full field is 40 golfers.

 

Priority entry will be given to 2023 & 2024 BC Women’s Open competitors until April 15th, 2025.

ENTRY FEE

  • 36-Hole Event Amateur entry Fee: $395 plus GST ($414.75).
  • 54-Hole Event Amateur entry fee: $450 plus GST ($472.50).
  • 54-Hole Professional entry fee:
    • PGA of Canada & Carded Professionals: $550 plus GST ($577.50).
    • Non-Carded Professionals: $650 plus GST ($682.50)
  • No requests for refunds will be accepted after May 23rd, 2025 (unless special consideration is granted by the Tournament committee. Special consideration will be given if a player registers for the BC Women’s Open and subsequently qualifies for an LPGA or Epson Tour event on the same week as the BC Women’s Open, this player will be granted a full refund.
  • There is a $100+GST admin fee for processing any withdrawals after May 23rd, and up until May 29th. After May 29th, any withdrawals will be subject to a full loss of entry.

 

Can I still register if I do not meet any of the priority consideration requirements?

 

YES. Players who do not meet any of the requirements for priority consideration are encouraged to register as early as possible using the registration link on the main tournament page which will be open on March 6th, 2025. If the field is not full by April 15th with players with priority considerations, we will fill the field based on WAGR rank and player resumes (54-Hole event), and all remaining players on pending list for the 36-hole event. The final field for both events will be set on May 22nd, 2025.

 

International players (permanent home residence outside Canada) are welcome to apply.

 

The Tournament Player subcommittee will review all applications in order to maximize the overall strength of the field.

PARTICIPATION INCLUDES

    • For Elite Amateurs & Professionals, up to three competition rounds at Nicklaus North Whistler.
      • Following 36 holes of stroke play there will be a cut to the low 25 players and ties for the final 18 holes.
    • For Senior Amateurs & Handicap 4.1 to 26.0, guaranteed two competitive rounds at Nicklaus North Whistler on June 5-6th.
    • One complimentary practice round per player on June 4th.
    • Tournament Purses offered for each event (see below)
    • Player’s package includes welcome gifts valued at $200
    • $50 gift card per player for Food and Beverage at Nicklaus North
    • Additional $25 food and beverage gift card for those making the cut on day 3.
    • For 54-Hole Championship players, the opportunity for private billeting with Nicklaus North members (no charge). Billeting information will be updated shortly.
    • Reduced pricing offered at the tournament host hotel (Crystal Lodge). Details TBA.

Note 1: 1st place Amateur of $1,200 is the maximum allowable under Rules of Amateur Status effective Jan. 1, 2022.

Note 2: The cut will determine the number of positions paid from each of the above amateur and professional purse distributions.

 

Players in the 54-hole event are competing for a maximum purse of $60,000. Note there are scenarios based on the number of amateurs and professionals that make the cut that less than the full advertised purse is paid out. In the event more than 25 golfers in a single category make the tournament cut (i.e. more than 25 female amateurs or more than 25 female professionals), each position after 25th place is worth $50 less than the previous spot for professionals and a fixed amount of $100 for amateurs.

 

Any remaining funds following distribution of the purse shall be used at the discretion of the Tournament Committee.

 

PLEASE NOTE: No prize money will be awarded to players missing the cut.

 

Top Professional & Amateur Winners - will receive a keeper trophy.

 

Overall 1st Place Female Finisher in the 54-Hole Championship will receive an exemption into the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open in Mississauga, Ontario on Aug.20-24th.

 

The winner of the “She Plays Golf” Championship Series (if they have not already earned a position) will earn an exemption into the 2025 CPKC Women’s Open.

 

36-HOLE EVENT PRIZE PURSE (Seniors & 4.1 to 26.0 hdcp)

THREE DIVISIONS:

  • $50/player will be allocated to the prize purse.
  • Alternating gross and net results will be used to determine prize pay- outs within each division:
    • Senior Division (55+ years as of June 5th)
    • Two Handicap Divisions (4.1 to 26.0)
  • Top 25% of each Division will earn gift card prizing.
  • Winners will be emailed with the amount of their gift card value and how to redeem their winnings.
  • Players will have until Oct.30th, 2025 to redeem their gift cards.
