In Pinehurst format both partners drive; each plays a second stroke with the other’s ball; they then select the ball with which they will play alternate strokes thereafter. The player with the lower Course Handicap receives 60 percent of his/her Course Handicap. The player with the higher Course Handicap receives 40 percent of his/her Course Handicap. Add the percentage allowances together then round off. The total with .5 or higher is rounded upward. This becomes the team’s Course Handicap. Trophy awarded to the low gross team; prizes awarded to the low net team. Ties for the gross trophy will be decided by an immediate hole-by-hole playoff beginning on the first hole. A player not present for a playoff must forfeit. Ties for the net trophy will be decided by matching cards.

LOCAL RULES
OUT OF BOUNDS
Out of Bounds is defined by white stakes.
On Hole #12 and Hole #15, where there are no white stakes, the inside edge of the road curbing defines the Out-of-Bounds.

WATER HAZARDS
Defined by yellow stakes. The use of drop areas is NOT permitted.
GROUND UNDER REPAIR
Flower beds on Hole #9 are mandatory ground under repair, play is prohibited.
Ruts through the green are Ground under Repair. (Relief is granted when at least half the ball lies below ground level.)
OBSTRUCTIONS
The netting on the range is considered an obstruction. Under Rule 24, you are entitled to relief, 1 club-length no nearer the hole.
Artificially surfaces roads and paths are obstructions. White lined areas tying into roads or paths have the same status as the roads or paths, and thus they are obstructions and not ground under repair. Cart damage adjacent to paths is considered part of the obstruction.
Stones in bunkers are moveable obstructions.
INTERGRAL PART OF THE COURSE
Retaining Walls on Hole # 9 and Hole #10.
AERATION HOLES & SOD SEAMS
If a ball comes to rest in either, you may lift, clean, and replace, without penalty. The ball may be placed within one club length, no nearer to the hole. On the putting green, you may place the ball at the nearest spot not nearer the hole which avoids either condition.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR DISCONTINUANCE OF PLAY
Spring Brook Country Club does have a lightning detection system. Although bad weather is not of itself a good reason for discontinuing play, a player is permitted to discontinue play at any time she herself believes there is a danger from lightning. The WMGA strongly endorses each individual’s attention, vigilance and care in this regard, to one’s own safety and that of one’s caddie.
Rule 6-8(b) details the procedure for discontinuance of play, e.g. darkness, golf course unplayable, which shall be signaled by three short blasts, repeated of an air horn(s). If players are in the process of playing a hole, they may continue provided they do so without delay. If players choose to continue, they shall discontinue either before or immediately after completing the hole. The penalty for breach of this Rule is disqualification.
In potentially dangerous situations, e.g. lightning in the area, play shall be discontinued immediately following a suspension of play by the Committee, which shall be signaled by one prolonged blast, of a siren. If a player fails to discontinue play immediately, she shall be disqualified unless circumstances warrant waiving such a penalty as provided in Rule 33-7.
Play shall not resume in either case until signaled by two short blasts, repeated of an air horn(s). All practice areas shall be closed during a suspension of play, until the Committee has declared them open for use.
When play is discontinued in a dangerous situation, players should seek the nearest point of shelter.
