2025 SPECIAL EVENT
(This event has been modified-- please review the adjustments for 2025)
Goal—To have an in person, interactive auction that creates engagement and respects people’s time.
Focus—To create a hybrid auction with a multi-day silent auction, focus on existing gathering times, and a limited live auction of the highest value teams.
Auction to begin at opening of registration check in, with each team assigned a bid number. Silent auction bid sheets will be made available at Registration/ProShop, covered rage area and putting green at all times possible.
Silent auction will close 1 hour and 30 minutes after the final contestant completes play on Thursday.
A certain TBD percent of teams, based on bid value at the close of the silent auction, will be included in a live auction. Any ties will be included in the live auction. Once those TBD teams are selected, we then have a blind draw to determine the final number of teams to be auctioned live. This will encourage bidders to attempt to buy themselves or another team in the hopes that their team is NOT selected for the live auction after the blind draw is performed.
Example- a bidder purchases a team at the silent auction for $2,000 and is selected to be in the percentage of teams that could participate in the live auction. If they are selected (by blind draw), they begin the live auction as the current bid holder at $2,000 and the team is up for auction. If they ARE NOT selected, they would own that team for $2,000 and not have to participate in the live auction.
This will encourage bidders to bid at the silent auction and with the hope that they could possibly be not selected in the blind draw portion of the live auction and they would own that team at a discounted amount.
Make sense? It will. Unless you struggle with the nuances of the English language.
The winning bids/bidders of the silent will be announced prior to the commencement of the live auction.
If a bidder owns a team other than their own, it is the tournament's expectation that they will allow the purchased team to buy back up to 50% of their team. ALL COMMUNICATION BETWEEN OWNERS AND PLAYERS MUST BE VIA TEXT MESSAGE IN THE EVENT OF A MISUNDERSTANDING.
All bidders and players cell phone numbers will be available.
If owners and players have communicated and have an understanding prior to the beginning of play (for the team purchased) the players may leave their agreed upon amount (IN CASH) at the Special Event Desk manned by Fischer, Hayes, Allen and Joye employees.
Live auction will be in person bidding only.
Of Note:
There will no longer be a mobile/online bidding option.
Teams will be auctioned off at 100%. There will no longer be a percentage buy in at registration.
