Entry Fee:  $250 per team

 

FORMAT:  The tournament shall consist of 18 holes of individual stroke play.  Each player shall play her own ball.  The team score shall be the total of the gross player's gross score added to the net player's net score. 

 

FIELD SIZE:  18 holes - 240 players - (or 120 players each day).

 

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:  December 1, 2024 at 4 p.m.

 

YARDAGE:  Event yardage will be posted on the website.

 

DRIVING DIRECTIONS:

From I-10 South:  Take Exit 167 for Riggs Road.  Continue 2.2 miles and turn left on S Sun Lakes Blvd.  After the guard house, continue 1.5 miles.  Turn right on South Oakwood Blvd. to the clubhouse.  (If following a personal GPS, it may route you to a residence only gate that is not staffed.  Plan to enter from Riggs Road.)

 

ENTRY:  Entrants must use the online registration portal via the link provided to each club's AZ Golf Representative.  Paper entry forms and checks for payment will NOT be accepted. 

 

ELIGIBILITY:  Entrants in the State Medallion Tournament will be the winners of the low gross and low net prizes in her club’s State Medallion Tournament. (In the event that the club’s State Medallion Tournament has not been completed for that year at the time of the State Medallion Tournament, entrants may be the winners from the previous year). In no case may the entrants be the winners from a State Medallion Tournament held more than one calendar year prior to the State Medallion Tournament being entered. Maximum handicap index limit of 54.4 shall be used for the 18-hole competition, as specified in the USGA Handicap System Manual. Players may “play down” to that index, if necessary.

 

TEAMS:  The number of teams a club may have participate in the State Team Medallion Tournament depends on the size of the roster of female members as of September 1, of the year the winners are determined.  Number of teams eligible to participate are based the total membership as follows:

     For 18-hole clubs: 

     350 members = 1 team

     351 - 700 members = 2 teams

     701 or more = 3 teams

 

NOTIFICATION OF PLAY DATE:  Players will be notified by December 14, 2024 if they will be playing on January 11 or January 12.  Date of play will be based on flights – which cannot be determined until registration is closed and team handicaps are calculated.

 

HANDICAPS:  December 13, 2024 handicap revision will be used to determine flights (based on gross player's handicap index).  The January 6, 2025 handicap revision will be used to determine playing handicap. 

 

REGISTRATION:  Event registration will be held in the Oakwood Card Room (next to the golf shop) starting at 9 a.m. each morning.  

 

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE:

Saturday, January 11 or Sunday, January 12

10:00 a.m. shotgun start, weather permitting

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS:  Practice rounds will be available for tournament players only.  Practice rounds may be scheduled by calling (480) 895-1159 based on space availability for play between January 3 and January 9, 2025 and may be booked 7 days prior to playing.  Practice round rate is $75 plus tax.  Please mention you are playing in the AZ Golf event and book a practice round on the Lakes to Palms Course. 

 

PAIRINGS/TEE TIMES:  Tournament pairings will be emailed to participants by end of day on Tuesday, January 7.

 

PRACTICE FACILITY:  Will be available one hour prior to play, weather permitting.

 

CADDIES:  Caddies are not permitted for the event.

 

GOLF CARTS:  Players may walk but are permitted to ride in carts and cart fees are covered in the tournament entry fee.  Maximum of two riders per cart and maximum of two carts per group. 

 

In addition, the following policies will be enforced:

  • Spectator carts are not permitted for insurance reasons, NO EXCEPTIONS.
  • Two persons per cart only.
  • Carts are assigned only to contestants.  
  • Restrictions on cart use for players are at the discretion of the Host Site and all players are bound by those requirements, subject to withdrawal for violations of that policy.  Any such restrictions will be posted at the tournament site.
  • Carts must be kept on paths if available near greens and tees.
  • Any non-player riding with a player is considered a caddie and subject to any potential Rules violations.
  • Pull carts are permitted as long as not in conflict with the Host Club rules.

 

WITHDRAW POLICY:  Prior to the Entry Deadline (December 1, 2024), players may withdraw from a tournament and receive a full refund by calling the AZ Golf office (602) 944-3035 during normal business hours or calling the Withdraw Line at (602) 944-3035 ext. 210 and leaving a message. There will be no refunds issued after the deadline. 

 

 

*If one partner must cancel, it is the responsibility of the Representative or club to notify AZ Golf with the name and GHIN number for the replacement golfer.  No replacements may be made after January 6, 2025 and no refunds will be issued after that date.

 

DETERMINING TIES:  Ties for the title of Champion are decided by a hole-by-hole playoff.  All other ties are decided using the recommended USGA tie-breaking procedure of Matching Scorecards (also known as Scorecard Count-Back) as referenced in Section 5A(6) of the Committee Procedures, Rules of Golf.

 

PAYOUTS: Gift certificates to Van's Golf Shops will be given to overall winners as well as top  finishers in each flight. Specific payout amounts will be posted at the event.
