The SCGA Players League is a team-based league designed for teams representing their member club to compete against other member clubs at scratch. Group winners will meet in the SCGA Players League Championship. Two teams from Southern California and two from Northern California will advance to compete in the California Players League Championship.

Groups are formed by three, four, or five teams, on their own. The teams within the group will play one competition at each course that a team represents within the group. Each club will host one competition for their group.  Those competitions may be played on any day of the week.  All play is without handicaps. During a competition, each player will accumulate points based on the appropriate Players League table. Players will earn points for their team based on the position they finish within their pairing group, which will have a representative from each team.

DEFINITION OF A TEAM:

Teams are comprised of 5-7 players. One professional per team, who is employed by the club/facility may participate, however, teams are not required to use a Professional. Before the start of the Regular Season, each group must agree to a set number of players that will be used for the Regular Season. (For example, teams cannot play with 5 players for the first match and 7 for the second. Upon reaching the postseason, all teams will be required to play with seven players, as stated within the Rules.)

Each team will submit a lineup for each of their competitions and is expected to compete as scheduled following the guidelines established in the Players League Manual.

No permanent roster is required for each team and no limit on the number of players who may be used during the season is in place.

Definition of an eligible Amateur: An amateur golfer listed on the member club’s active GHIN roster at the time of the team’s first competition.

Definition of an eligible Professional: A Professional is defined as a member of the club’s staff, including its teaching staff, who is not an amateur. Professionals must be employed at and paid by the club/facility they are representing.  An independent instructor who is not on the club/facility payroll will not be considered eligible to participate.
