TOURNAMENT HISTORY (www.BCMatchplay.com)
The BC Match Play was conceived in 1946 by some of Vancouver’s legendary golfers - Stan Leonard, Fred Wood, Ernie Brown and Jock McKinnon. The event has been played as both an individual competition and a team competition throughout its seventy-eight-year history. Since 1985, the event has remained a 2-person team competition.
The event is a one-of-a-kind competition in North America due to its four distinguishing characteristics:
- It is the longest surviving annual match play event in BC
- As a team competition it is a best ball score format
- It gives amateurs the opportunity to play Match Play against Professionals for the title
- The competition is stretched over four weekends.
