QUALIFYING MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS

QUALIFYING PORTAL: Follow the link for pairings, live scoring, results and player information. You can also access the qualifying portal by using the Golf Genius app on your mobile device. To access the page, login using the GGID: USSRWAM-REN24

 

QUALIFYING YARDAGE: 5,554 yards, par-71. Qualifying yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions.

 

FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES: Stroke play competition conducted over 18 holes. The field of 35 players will compete for seven (7) qualifying places and two (2) alternate positions that will advance into the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship to be played at Broadmoor Golf Club in Seattle, Washington on September 21-26, 2024.

 

PRACTICE ROUND AVAILABILITY: Players may play one hosted practice round prior to the qualifier. Practice rounds will be available in the afternoon on Monday, August 5 for all contestants. Local contestants can call the golf shop to inquire on available practice rounds times in the two weeks prior. All practice round times are at the discretion of the Fairwood G&CC golf shop staff and practice round times other than on the afternoon of August 5 are not guaranteed. All contestants must call the golf shop at (425) 226-7890 to make arrangements beginning on Thursday, July 18.

 

STARTING TIMES: Available on the Washington Golf website (wagolf.org) and on the qualifying portal. Online scoring will also be available on the website and portal during qualifying. Starting times will be from 7:30 a.m. – 9:20 a.m.

 

PLAYOFF: In the event of a tie for the last qualifying place or for the order of alternates, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternates if necessary. All announcements regarding the play-off and start time will be made via text message and email.

 

GOLF SHOP: The golf shop will be open at 6:00 a.m.

 

FOOD SERVICE: Breakfast grab-and-go options and beverages will be available in the golf shop. The clubhouse lounge will open at 11:00 a.m. for lunch service.

 

BOTTLED WATER: Bottled water will be provided on the first tee and at numerous locations on the golf course for players and caddies.

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT ACCEPTED: Cash and all major credit cards.

 

LOCKER ROOM: The clubhouse locker room will be available for player use. Individual lockers will not be available.

 

PRACTICE FACILITIES/RANGE BALLS: Range balls will be hosted and staged on the range beginning at 6:30 a.m.     

 

CADDIES: Caddies are permitted. Host club caddies are not available. All caddies must wear a caddie bib distributed on the starting tee.  

 

PULL CARTS: Pull carts are permitted. Course pull carts are available for player use at no charge. Players may provide their own pull cart.

 

CARTS: Carts will be available for rent for $20 per player. Due to the limited number of carts available at the club, players may be required to share a golf car. Players can rent a cart inside the golf shop on August 6. The USGA Cart Policy for Senior Amateur Championships is in effect.

 

FOOTWEAR: Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player must not wear shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) or spikes, of any design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course).  Penalty for breach of this Local Rule: See Rule 4.3.

 

DRIVERS/GOLF BALLS: The Local Rule for Conforming Driver Heads is in effect, See Model Local Rule G-1. The Local Rule requiring that all golf balls used be on the List of Conforming Golf Balls is in effect. See Model Local Rule G-3. Please check the USGA website, www.usga.org, for a list of approved golf balls and drivers.

 

GROOVES: The players clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010.  See Model Local Rule G-2. UNDERSTANDING THE GROOVES LOCAL RULE

 

DMDS: The use of distance-measuring devices (DMD) to measure distance only (Rule 4.3) is permitted. UNDERSTANDING THE RULES OF DMDs

 

PACE OF PLAY: It is a condition that players must play without undue delay and in accordance with guidelines established by the Committee. PACE OF PLAY GUIDELINES

 

EVACUATION PLAN: In the event of a discontinuance of play during the qualifier, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the Committee. The evacuation plan will be emailed to players the day prior to the qualifier and will be available on the starting tee.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT: As set forth in the USGA application, the code of conduct applies to all USGA Qualifying and Championships. 

 

PERSONAL APPEARANCE: Players must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing.

 

AWARD CEREMONY: A Silver Medal will be awarded to the lowest scorer.
