A Peoria is a scoring system to create a golfers handicap in a single day. The system works by collecting scores on six holes throughout the day - typically three from each nine but you will not know which six until after the round. The total strokes taken on these holes are added up and the total is then multiplied by three - this number is then subtracted by par. This gives you a rough expectation of what your score will be over or under par. You then multiple this total by 80 percent(0.8) to give you your total stroke allowance. This stroke allowance is what you are able to subtract from your score at the end of the tournament - the computer will do this and reveal all the scores afterwards.
