MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS


 

FORMAT, QUALIFYING PLACES, AND TIES

  • FORMAT. 18-holes of individual stroke play
  • QUALIFYING SPOTS. 1 qualifying spot and 2 alternates.
  • PLAYOFF. A hole-by-hole playoff will be used to break a tie for the final qualifying spot, first alternate, and/or second alternate. All announcements regarding the play-off will be made at the public scoreboard upon completion of play.

PRACTICE ROUNDS

Practice rounds are available ($50 w/cart) on Monday, July 29 - use the instructions below to schedule a practice round starting time online, please do not contact the pro shop. If you need assistance, please call the NYSGA office at 315-471-6979.

  • Select your name from the search bar
  • Select your desired tee time. You may add other players in the field to your grouping. DO NOT remove players without their prior approval.

 

WITHDRAWALS
Notify the USGA immediately if you must withdraw from this qualifier. To withdraw and learn about the refund policy,

PUSH CARTS
The use of a push cart, whether manual or electric, is approved. A seat attachment must not be used.

GOLF CARTS
Are permitted during the qualifying round, the fee is $20 and payable to the pro shop. The
USGA's One-Seat Policy is in effect - if only two players are riding they must take one cart. Max of two carts per group. Either the player or the caddie can ride, never both at the same time.

 

PRO SHOP AND PRACTICE FACILITIES

The golf shop and practice facilities will open at 7:00am. Complimentary balls will be available on the driving range.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

 

REGISTRATION AND START OF PLAY

There is no official registration, contestants may check-in at the pro shop to confirm their starting time. Report to your assigned tee, ready to play, 10 minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for announcements.

 

FOOD SERVICE

  • Complimentary water and energy bars/bananas will be available for players and caddies on the golf course.
  • Complimentary lunch will be provided to contestants following play.

LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS
Listed below are a number of important Conditions of Competition and Local Rules for this qualifier.

  • USGA LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION (HARD CARD). Click here.
  • GROOVE CONDITION. The players’ clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010.  See Model Local Rule G-2. The exception for Ping Eye2 Irons manufactured before March 31, 1990 is not in effect. (click here).
  • CONFORMING BALLS AND DRIVER HEADS. Visit the USGA website for a list of approved golf balls (click here) and driver heads (click here).
  • ONE BALL RULE. Is NOT in effect for any USGA qualifying rounds in 2024.
  • DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES. For all USGA qualifying rounds, the use of distance measuring devices to measure distance only is permitted.


REQUESTING USE OF A CART
A disabled player or caddie may be permitted to use a golf cart as an accommodation to their ability. As required by the ADA, the USGA will evaluate such requests on a case-by-case basis. To learn more and to submit the required form,

PACE OF PLAY
The
NYSGA Pace of Play Policy is in effect.


CODE OF CONDUCT
The NYSGA Code of Conduct Policy is in effect.


EVACUATION PLAN
In the event of a discontinuance of play during the qualifier, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the Committee at their starting tee.
