NOTICE TO PLAYERS
The Rules of the USGA and as printed on LPGA Amateur Golf Association Hard Card shall be in effect. The following Local Rules, Conditions and Definitions shall be in effect where applicable.
FORMAT: One 18-hole stipulated golf round using a scramble format. If weather or circumstances cause suspension of play, the Nor’easter Committee may reduce the number of stipulated holes required to complete the round of competition.
TEEING GROUND: Each team member will play from the Gold tees (5227 yards).
SCORING and SCORE CARDS: The gross score for each hole must be recorded by all teams on Golf Genius and recorded on the provided scorecard. Return scorecards to the designated scoring area immediately following completion of the final hole. The scorecard is deemed to have been returned when the team captain or designated player signs the card and leaves the scoring area.
PUTTING BALL IN PLAY: When the position of the shot has been selected, players may either drop or place their ball in the defined area. Once the ball has come to rest, it is in play and may not be moved without penalty.
OUT OF BOUNDS: White PVC pipes and stakes. All roads adjacent to the course, even if the ball crosses the road and comes to rest on another part of the course is out of bounds.
DROP ZONES: In keeping with local rules, the Drop Zone on hole #7 is provided as a possible option for one penalty stroke if a ball is in or it is known or virtually certain to be in in the penalty area.
OBSTRUCTIONS: When in bounds, artificially surfaced roads and paths covered with pavement, rocks or gravel, or railroad ties along the cart path are considered obstructions from which free relief may be taken. Stones in bunkers are movable obstructions (Rule 15.2 applies). Pump houses, utility boxes, sewer grates and the like are also obstructions.
COMFORT STATIONS: Clubhouse as well as after Holes #5 and #13.
INCLEMENT WEATHER PROCEDURE: Bad weather is not of itself a reason for discontinuing play. The player must not discontinue play due to Inclement Weather unless:
- the Nor’easter Committee has suspended play;
- the player believes there is danger from lightning;
- the player is seeking a decision from the Rules Official on a doubtful or disputed point; or
- there is some other good reason such as sudden illness.
If the player discontinues play without specific permission from the Nor’easter Committee, she must report to the Nor’easter Committee as soon as practicable. If she does so and the Nor’easter Committee considers the reason satisfactory, there is no penalty. Otherwise, the team is disqualified. Failure to follow these suspension/resumption procedures will result in Disqualification.
RULES OFFICIAL: Call or text the Nor’easter Committee at 570-856-3230.
If a team is not sure how to proceed, their options are:
- play the ball as it lies;
- choose to play another ball from the scramble foursome; or
- call the Rules Official at 570-856-3230.
- call the Nor’easter Committee as soon as possible.
PACE OF PLAY POLICY:
Teams must maintain their group’s position in relation to the group in front of them. A group may be considered out of position if it reaches the teeing ground
- of a par-3 hole and the preceding group has cleared the next tee, or
- of a par-4 hole and the putting green is clear, or
- of a par-5 hole when the preceding group is on the putting green.
See the LPGA Amateurs Pace of Play policy for greater detail including potential penalties.
CHAPTER AND TEAM COMPETITIONS:
Chapter Competition: Lowest average net score among the teams competing for each chapter. If a chapter has more than four teams registered, the first four teams that registered will compete in the competition.
Team Competitions:
- Lowest net score among the teams competing in Flight 1.
- Lowest gross score among the teams competing in Flight 1.
- Lowest net score among the teams competing in Flight 2.
- Lowest gross score among the teams competing in Flight 2.
To distribute prizes to more players in the field, teams will only be eligible for one prize in the above competitions. If a team wins more than one competition, they will be recognized as the winning team and the next eligible team will receive the prize.
CLOSEST TO THE PIN CONTESTS: There will be closest to the pin contests on two par 3 holes: Holes 4 and 15. To be eligible, your tee shot must land on the putting surface (not the fringe). An individual can only win on one hole; the next closest to the pin will receive prize for the second hole.
There will be two Divisions for closest to the pin:
- Under 22: handicap index under 22, and
- At/Above 22: handicap index at or above 22.
Handicap index is used as of July 7, 2024, and each player’s HI is provided in the scorecard.
The Closest to the Pin sheets will list the two divisions. Make sure you know the division you are in when you list your shot. If no player from a division hits a green, no prize will be awarded.
BEST DRESSED TEAM: The best dressed team will be given prizes as judged by the Nor'easter Committee.
GREAT SHOT!: The player who posts the most fun and interesting picture on the Golf Genius Portal during the tournament will be given a prize as judged by the Nor'easter Committee.
