18 holes. Two-person Best Ball/Alternate Shot

This two-person team Best Ball/Alternate Shot tournament is the second of our two annual Chapter Championships. The first--a four person team Scramble--will be played Jul 28*. Both will be played at Glendoveer Golf & Tennis Center. You don't have to choose. Play them both! 😎
 

Chapter Championship Best Ball/Alternate Shot

  • Front Nine Best Ball. Each partner plays their own ball. The lower of the two scores is recorded as the Team score on each hole.
     
  • Back Nine Alternate Shot. Teammates share a ball and alternate hitting from the tee until the ball is holed. Player A hits the tee shot on odd holes; Player B hits the tee shot on even holes. 

 

Members can find a teammate or ask during registration to be paired with a partner--a great way to get acquainted with members you may not know! Teams are encouraged (but not required) to wear "team colors" for fun and camaraderie.

 

Scoring: To ensure teams compete fairly, each will be assigned a team handicap using the Ambrose method, per this example. 

 

  • Course Handicaps for each of two players are added (25 + 18 = 47); then averaged (47 / 2 = 21.5)
  • Team handicap is 50 percent of the average (21.5 / 2 = 10.75) and rounded to 11

 

Awards will go to the Overall lowest net scoring team for all 18 holes; the top two Best Ball net scoring teams; and the top two Alternate Shot net scoring teams.

Join us after the round for the award presentations and a hosted buffet lunch at Von Ebert Brewing, the club's onsite restaurant.

  • To complete registration you will need to enter your Handicap Posting Service (GHIN, other) account number. Please have it on hand before you begin registration. 
     
  • If you have a teammate, enter her name in the Notes field. (Each partner must register.)
