TERMS OF THE COMPETITION


ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to amateur male golfers who have an active GHIN Handicap Index at a golf club in the following counties: Allegheny, Cattaraugus, or Chautauqua. This also includes the NYSGA eClub - Western NY, but the player must reside in one of these counties.

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Entry Fee: $125. Includes golf, awards, and prizes.
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on June 24, 2024). Late entries aren't accepted.
  • Refund Policy: The entry fee, less a $20 service fee, will be refunded if a player withdraws prior to the close of registrations. No refund will be awarded after the registration deadline.

 

CHAMPIONSHIPS, SCHEDULE, AND FORMAT

  • Format: 54 holes of individual stroke play
  • Cut: There is a cut after 36 holes to the low 50% of the WST Amateur field (and ties).
  • Schedule (PM Tee Times):
    • Fri, June 28 // Rd 1 // Cardinal Hills GC
    • Sat, June 29 // Rd 2 // Chautauqua (Lake) 
    • Sun June 30 // Rd 3 // Bartlett CC
  • Ties: In the event of a tie after 54 holes in either the WST Amateur (overall) or Junior Division, a hole-by-hole playoff will be used to determine the champion. All other ties for prizes will be broken using the USGA method of matching scorecards.

 

INFORMATION & PAIRINGS
Complete Championship details, including information about pairings and starting times, will be emailed to players and posted on this website shortly after the close of entries. Pairings for the first two rounds will be announced in advance. The final round pairings will be determined using the 36-holes scores with low scorers starting last.

 

LOW JUNIOR DIVISION (BOYS 18 & UNDER)
A separate division/award will be given to the Low Junior (for Boys 18 years or younger). This competition will be played concurrently with the Western Southrn Tier Amateur and it is Junior Golf Scoreboard ranked.

 

WAGR RANKING

The 2024 Western Southern Tier Amateur Champion is WAGR ranked. The Boys 18U division is ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

 

EXEMPTIONS (MEN)

The 2024 Western Southern Tier Amateur Champion will earn an exemption into the following championships:

 

EXEMPTIONS (BOYS)

The top-3 finishers of the Boys 18U Division will earn an exemption into the 2024 NYS Boys' 18U Junior Amateur Championship*.

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf.

 

GOLF CARTS

The use of golf carts is permitted. The rental fee is payable in the host club pro shop prior to each round.

 

CADDIES

The use of a caddie is permitted. The NYSGA's One-Seat Policy is in effect - if a player brings a caddie and rides, either the player or his caddie can ride, never both at the same time. See NYSGA Policies for more information.

PRIZES

Are awarded as pro shop credit to approximately 40% of the field that makes the 36 hole cut.

*This exemption is scaled based on field size. Top-3 are exempt for a field of at least 12 players ages 18 and younger. Top-2 are exempt for a field of at least 8 players. The winner is exempt if the field is at least 5 players.
