TERMS OF THE COMPETITION


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

This Championship is open to male amateur golfers who are at least 55 years old (as of September 10, 2024), active NYSGA Members, and hold an up-to-date USGA Handicap Index of 12.0 or less.

 

ENTRY INFORMATION

  • Entries: All players must register online prior to the established deadline (see below). Entries by mail or fax will not be accepted.
  • Fee: $240
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Wednesday, August 21, 2024). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Refund Policy: A portion of the entry fee, based on the schedule below, will be refunded regardless of reason if the NYSGA is notified via phone or email (315-471-6979 or Champs@nysga.org). 

    • PRIOR TO entry deadline: Entry fee less $20

    • AFTER entry deadline: Entry fee less $50*

    • *$125 if tee gift is ordered - will be mailed to player

    • WITHIN 7 DAYS of the competition: None

 

FIELD SIZE, WAIT LIST, AND HANDICAP REVIEW

  • Field Size: 132 players.
  • Determining Field & Waitlist Procedure:  Registration for this Championship is NOT on a first come, first served basis. The field is selected "low-to-high", based on the player's combined Handicap Index as of the entry close date. A player's entry will be added to the Championship's pending registration field and their credit card will not be charged. When entries close on August 21st, all players will be ordered by their current Handicap Index from low-to-high. The 132 players with the lowest Handicap Index will be approved by charging their credit card the full entry fee. Approved players will immediately receive an email confirmation confirming their spot in the Championship.
  • Waitlisted Players: Any player that that does not earn a spot in the field will be placed on a waitlist ordered by their Handicap Index and notified of their status and order by email.
  • Handicap Index Review: A player may be subject to Handicap review if he does not have at least five scores posted since September 1st, 2023. The NYSGA reserves the right to amend the field/waitlist at any time and for any reason.

 

CHAMPIONSHIP, FORMAT & SCHEDULE

  • Format: 36 holes of individual stroke play.
  • Age Groups: In addition to competing in the Championship, players will also compete within the following two age divisions: 55-59, 60-64. Players ages 65+ are not eligible for either of these age groups but can also compete in the 2024 NYS Men's Super Senior Amateur Championship, hosted by Crag Burn on July 30-31.
  • Schedule of Events:
    • Monday, September 9 // Practice Rounds
    • Tuesday, September 10 // Round 1 (18 Holes)
    • Wednesday, September 11 // Round 2 (18 Holes)
  • Ties: The player with the lowest score for 36 holes will be the Champion. In the event of a tie for the Championship, a sudden-death playoff will be held immediately following play. If there is a tie for the winner in the Age Groups, the tie will be broken using the USGA's method of matching scorecards.


PRACTICE ROUNDS - MUST REGISTER ONLINE

A complimentary practice round is available on Monday, September 9. You may only schedule practice round tee times online via this website - registration opens Tuesday, Sept. 3 at 12pm and an email reminder will be sent to players with instructions prior. DO NOT CALL THE PRO SHOP. 

 

CADDIES & GOLF CARTS

  • Caddies: The use of a caddie is permitted.

  • Golf Carts: The use of a golf cart is approved and included in the entry fee.

 

INFORMATION & PAIRINGS

Complete Championship details will be emailed to players and posted on this website after entries close. Pairing requests are not honored.

 

FOOD & BEVERAGE

The NYSGA will be providing a complimentary luncheon on September 10th and 11th for all competitors.
