TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Open to male amateur golfers who are active NYSGA Members with a USGA Handicap Index of 15.0 or less.
  • Golfers in the Super Senior and Legends division must be at least 65 and 70 years old, respectively, as of July 30, 2024.

 

ENTRY INFORMATION

  • Entries: All players must register online through this website prior to the established deadline (see below).
  • Fee: $240
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Wednesday, July 17, 2024). Late entries will not be accepted.
  • Refund Policy: A portion of the entry fee, based on the schedule below, will be refunded regardless of reason if the NYSGA is notified (315-471-6979 or champs@nysga.org).

    • PRIOR TO entry deadline: Entry fee less $20

    • AFTER entry deadline: Entry fee less $50

    • WITHIN 7 DAYS of the competition: None

 

FIELD SIZE, WAIT LIST, AND HANDICAP REVIEW

  • Field Size: 84 players (54 - Super Senior, 30 - Legends). If either field does not reach capacity, open spots will be filled using teams from another division's waitlist.
  • Determining Field & Waitlist Procedure:  Registration for this Championship is NOT on a first come, first served basis. The field is selected "low-to-high", based on the player's combined Handicap Index as of the entry close date. A player's entry will be added to the Championship's pending registration field and their credit card will not be charged. When entries close on July 17th, all players in each division will be ordered by their current Handicap Index by low-to-high. The player's in each division with the lowest Handicap Index, based on division size (above), will then be approved by charging their credit card the full entry fee. Approved player's will immediately receive an email confirmation confirming their spot in the Championship.
  • Waitlisted Players: Any player that that does not earn a spot in the field will be placed on a waitlist ordered by their Handicap Index and notified of their status and order by email.
  • Handicap Index Review: A player may be subject to Handicap review if he does not have at least five scores posted since July 1st, 2023. The NYSGA reserves the right to amend the field/waitlist at any time and for any reason.

 

CHAMPIONSHIPS, FORMAT, & SCHEDULE

  • Format: 36 holes of individual stroke play.
  • Championships: There are two Championship divisions conducted concurrently at Crag Burn:
    • 28th NYS Super Senior Amateur Championship
    • 2nd NYS Legends Amateur Championship
  • Age Groups: In addition to competing in one of the Championship divisions listed above, players will also compete within the following age divisions:  65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80-84, 85+.
  • Schedule of Events
    • Monday, July 29 // Registration & Practice Rounds
      • 12:00pm-4:30pm........ Player Registration and driving range open
      • 1:30pm-4:30pm.......... Practice round tee times
    • Tuesday, July 30 // Round 1
      • 6:30am........................ Practice Facilities open
      • 7:30am-9:27am.......... Tee time from holes #1 & #10
      • 12:00-3:00pm.............. Player lunches
    • Wednesday, July 31 // Round 2​​​​​​​
      • ​​​​​​​6:30am......................... Practice Facilities open
      • 7:30am-9:27am........... Tee time from holes #1 & #10
      • 12:00-3:00pm.............. Player lunches
      • 2:00pm........................ Awards ceremony

 

  • Ties: The player in each Championship with the lowest score for 36 holes will be the Champion. In the event of a tie for either Championship, a sudden-death playoff will be held immediately following play. If there is a tie for the winner in the Age Groups, the tie will be broken using the USGA's method of matching scorecards.

 

CADDIES & GOLF CARTS 

  • Caddies: The use of a caddie is permitted.

  • Golf Carts: The use of a golf cart is required, payment for which is included in the entry fee.

Complete Championship details will be emailed to players and posted on this website after entries close. Pairing requests are not honored.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

The approximate yardage for each Championship division is listed below. The final yardages are determined by the weather and other environmental considerations.

  • Super Senior (65+): 6,147y - Par 72 - 71.0/134
  • Legends (70+): 5,473y - Par 72 - 67.3/126
