MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS


PLAYER QUICK HITS

 

CHAMPIONSHIPS, FORMAT, AND CUT INFORMATION

There are two championships being played at Skaneateles Country Club. The format and cut information for each championship is listed below:

  • 94th NYS Women's Amateur Championship*: 54 holes, cut after 36 to low-30 and ties.
  • 15th NYS Women's Mid-Amateur Championship: 36 holes, no cut.

 


AWARD FOR LOW JUNIOR (18U)*
All players who are 18U - as of July 16 - will also compete for the Low Junior award, a division ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS

A complimentary practice round is available on Sunday, July 14. To secure a tee time, DO NOT CALL THE PRO SHOP.  Players may schedule their practice round starting time starting at 12PM on Wednesday, July 3 using the instructions below:

  • Visit Schedule Your Practice Round
  • Select your name from the search bar
  • Select your desired tee time. You may add other players in the field to your grouping. DO NOT remove players without their prior approval.

STARTING TIMES & GROUPINGS

Click here to view the pairings for Round 1. The Round 2 starting times for the NYS Women's Amateur, using the same groupings, will be announced following R1 to afford players ample time for lunch.


WITHDRAWALS

To withdraw, promptly notify the NYSGA (call 315-471-6979, or e-mail champs@nysga.org). Failure to do so may result in disqualification from future NYSGA competitions.

REGISTRATION
Players must register by 4PM on Sunday, July 14 either at Skaneateles or by completing this
Google Form. Failure to register may result in the forfeiture of your spot in the Championship.

MONDAY, JULY 15

  • 6:30am..................Practice facility/Registration open
  • 7:30 - 9:30am........Round 1 from tee #1 (Ams)
  • 9:50 - 11:20am......Round 1 from tee #1 (Mid-Ams)
  • 11:30 - 3:00pm......Player lunch
  • 12:30 - 2:30pm......Round 2 from tee #1 (Ams)

TUESDAY, JULY 16

  • 6:30am...................Practice facility open
  • 7:30 - 8:30am.........Round 2 from tee #1 (Mid-Ams)
  • 9:00 - 10:00am.......Round 3 from tee #1 (Ams)
  • 11:30 - 3:00pm.......Player lunch
  • 1:00pm...................Awards ceremony (Mid-Ams)
  • 3:30pm...................Awards ceremony (Ams)

DRIVING RANGE

Use of the driving range and practice facilities for all rounds is included. Balls will be available on the range (see schedule for times). 

 

CADDIES & BIBS
A player may provide her own caddie. No caddies are available through the host club. All caddies will be required to use an NYSGA caddie bib during competition rounds. Bibs can be checked out at the registration table; a license or credit card is required as a deposit.

 

CONTESTANT LUNCHES

Lunch will be provided for all contestants on Monday and Tuesday (see Schedule for times). Lunch for spectators and caddies will be available for purchase (cash) at the clubs halfway house.

 

ON-COURSE WATER & SNACKS

Water bottles and fruit/snacks will be provided on the golf course for players/caddies only.
 

HALFWAY AT SKANEATELES

Will be open during play and accepts CASH ONLY - this is the only option available to players/spectators on Sunday. There are numerous restaurant options available in Skaneateles.


LOCKER RESERVATION
If you would like use of a locker at Skaneateles, please email champs@nysga.org to reserve a space.

 

GOLF CARTS

  • Women's Amateur: Not permitted during competition rounds - but are allowed during practice rounds.
  • Women's Mid-Amateur: The use of golf carts is permitted for all rounds.
  • Cart Fee: The fee is $20 per player, payable to the pro shop before each round. The NYSGA's One Seat Golf Cart Policy is in effect for this Championship.

 

TRANSPORTATION/CART REQUESTS (WOMEN'S AMATEUR)

Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee. The optional condition prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect will be in effect. A disabled player or caddie may be permitted to use a golf cart as an accommodation to their ability. As required by the ADA, the NYSGA will evaluate such requests on a case-by-case basis.

PUSH CARTS

The use of a push cart, whether manual or electric, is permitted.

  • Women's Amateur: Must not use the seat attachment on any push cart.
     

SPECTATORS AND CARTS
Spectators are expected to maintain a reasonable distance (at least 20 yards) from players and to always walk with or ahead of the group they are following. Spectators must not give players advice, as doing so could result in the player being penalized. Spectators who are in breach of these recommendations may be subject to removal from the golf course.

The NYSGA will accommodate spectators with an ADA disability by allowing them to ride in their own golf cart. To request this accommodation, a spectator must complete and return the
NYSGA Golf Cart Request Form at least 24 hours in advance.

The NYSGA does not have a group hotel rate assigned for this Championship. Listed below are a small sample of hotels in the region, their distance from the golf course, and the estimated commute time.


LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS

Listed below are a number of important Conditions of Competition and Local Rules for this Championship.

  • RULES OF GOLF; WHEN COMPETITION IS FINAL. Play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and R&A. Questions are to be referred to the NYSGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final. The result of this Championship is final when the Championship trophy has been presented.
  • NYSGA LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION (HARD CARD). Download the 2024 NYSGA Hard Card (click here).
  • GOLF BALLS; DRIVER HEADS. Model Local Rules G-1 and G-3 are in effect. Visit the USGA website for a list of approved golf balls (click here) and driver heads (click here).

PACE OF PLAY

It is a condition that players must play without undue delay in accordance with guidelines established by the Committee. To view the NYSGA's Pace of Play Policy, click here.

 

EVACUATION PLAN
In the event of a discontinuance of play during this Championship, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the NYSGA.

 

PLAYER CONDUCT

Players, caddies and/or their guests must conduct themselves in a reasonable manner at all times. The NYSGA's Code of Conduct Policy is in effect. The NYSGA reserves the right to revoke a player's tournament entry, without a refund, at any time for conduct deemed inappropriate or damaging to the NYSGA.
