TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to junior boys and girls who meet the following requirements:

  • Membership: Reside within the SDGA territory (Onondaga, Cortland, Cayuga, Madison, Oswego, Oneida, Seneca, Tompkins, and Wayne County east of Route 14)

  • Age: Be 18 or younger as of July 17, 2024.

  • USGA Handicap Index: Have an active GHIN Handicap with the following limits placed for each division - juniors are eligible for a free USGA GHIN Handicap Index by joining the NYSGA eClub of Central New York.

    • Boys 18U: 15.0 max

    • Boys 14U: 22.0 max

    • Girls 18U: 22.0 max

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Entry Fee: All entries for the 2024 Junior Match Play are FREE.  

  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Wednesday, July 10, 2024). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.


FORMAT

  • Qualifying Round: The first round will be played as an individual stroke play qualifier, where players compete in one of three divisions: Boys 18U (15-18 years old), Boys 14U (14 & Under), and Girls 18U (18 & Under).
  • Match Play: The top players (see below) will compete in match play format. Any ties for the last spot will be broken by USGA method of matching scorecards.
    • Boys 18U: Top-16
    • Boys 14U: Top-8
    • Girls 18U: Top-16

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The SDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

Wednesday, July 17 // Match Play Rounds, Drumlins East //  8:00am-8:40am and 12:00pm 

 

TEE TIME REQUESTS
The SDGA will make every effort to accommodate tee time requests, which must be submitted no later than 12PM on Wednesday, July 10th (click here). Pairing requests will not be accepted.

 

RANKINGS

The 2024 SDGA Junior District Match Play Championship is a WAGR ranked event.

 

 

EXEMPTIONS
The winner and runner-up of the Boys 18U Division will be exempt for the 2025 NYS Boys' 18U Junior Amateur Championship.

 

CADDIES

The use of caddies is permitted. Caddies must be under 21 years old and may not be related to the player.

 

FOOD & BEVERAGE

There is no food included with this tournament.

 

GOLF CARTS

The use of a golf cart is not permitted. Push carts are approved.

 

RANGE

Pay for balls in the Pro Shop

 

AWARDS

Trophies will be awarded to the winners. Gift certificates to the host club pro shop will be awarded.
