2024 ASGA Men's Match-Play Championship
Burns Park Golf Course
Eligibility: Open to male amateur golfers who are residents of Arkansas and a current individual member of ASGA. Amateur – 16+, Mid-Amateur – 35+, Senior – 50+, Super Senior – 60+, & Legends (Formerly Masters) – 70+
Handicap Index Requirement: Amateurs and Mid-Amateurs required to have a USGA handicap index of 8.0 or less, Seniors, Super Seniors and Masters Handicap Index of 14.0 or less. All must meet the age requirement by July 11, 2024
Format: Contestants in all divisions (unless exempt) will play 18 holes on Thursday, July 11 at Burns Park Golf Course to determine the bracket. The stipulated round is two 9-hole rounds and based on inclement weather, the brackets could be determined based on a 9-hole score. Tees: Legends & Super Seniors will play a combination of the “Silver” Tee Yardage (5,400 yds) and “White Tee Yardage (6,000 yds) or approximately 5,700 yards. Mid-Am & Seniors “Blue” Tee Yardage (approx. 6.300 yds) Amateur play “Black” Tee yardage (approx. 6,800 yds), with an occasional “Blue” Tee Yardage, NOTE: Simmons Bank Tee Markes will be on the respective tees for the practice round July 10.
Bracket Exemptions: Amateur division will be 32 players (48 or more entrants, bracket is 64). The Mid-Amateur, Senior, Super-Senior & Legends Divisions will each be 8 players (12or more entrants, bracket is 16, 24 or more players, bracket is 32). If there are more spots than players, the low qualifiers (could be exempt players) will receive a first-round bye.
Additional Exemptions as of July 11, 2024, in addition to the Defending Champion in each division:
·8 –man bracket: First in respective PofY & 2024 Ark. Am Champion in that division
·16-man bracket: Top 3 in respective PofY & 2024 Ark. Am Champion in that division
·32-man bracket: Top 6 in respective PofY & 2023Ark Am Champion in that division
·64-man bracket: Top 12 in respective PofY & 2021 Ark. Am Champion in that division
·Note: if a player gives up his exemption and tries to qualify for a lower seed, the exemption goes away.
Schedule of Events:
Thursday, July 11 – Qualifying round (defending champions exempt from qualifying & #1 seed in their respective division – Mitchell Ford, Brent Cook, Chris Jenkins, Bob Baker & Thomas Coleman.
Friday, July 12 - First round in A.M. for all divisions & second round for AMATEUR ONLY in P.M.
Saturday, July 13 - All divisions will play a match in A.M. – if an 8-person bracket, this will be the SEMI-FINALS in A.M. and the CHAMPIONSHIP match will be played in P.M. If the bracket is 16-players, the QUARTER-FINALS will be in the A.M. and SEMI-FINALS in P.M. If the bracket size is 32, the QUARTER-FINALS will be played in the A.M. and SEMI-FINALS will be played in P.M.
Sunday, July 14 – if the bracket is 32, the Championship match will be in the A.M. If the bracket is 64, the semi-finals will be in the A.M. and the Championship Match will be in the P.M. Please note bracket sizes above - a 64-man bracket, a minimum of 48 players must be entered. If the bracket size is 16 players, the CHAMPIONSHIP Match will be in the AM.
Practice Round: Wednesday, July 10 or another time with approval of the golf shop (501-906-6400). Steve Ralston is the PGA Professional. To play a practice round, each player must pay a reduced green fee of $25 which includes cart and range balls.
Prizes: The amateur champion will have name inscribed on Roy Wood Trophy. The winner and runner-up in all divisions will receive individual trophies. Pro Shop Certificates will be awarded based on field size in all divisions. Prize breakdown will be posted.
