More Details:

The program consists of four sessions:

Session One:  “Getting to know you and the game of golf from the fairway to the green, and everything in between.”

This first session is a review of what to know and what to do out on a course playing with other golfers.  The goal is to provide enough information so that you will be comfortable playing with those who may have more golfing experience.  The concept of being mindful of oneself and others will be introduced and repeated throughout the series. The guidelines for golf etiquette will be reviewed so that the experience on the course will be positive for both you and those golfing with you. We will review scoring and some important rules to ensure a pleasant experience. No golf equipment is needed for this session.

Session Two: “Putting around the green. Drive for dough, putt for show”.

The second session will be a hands-on opportunity to putt.  You will need to bring a putter and a few balls. The goal of this session will be a review of the dynamics of the putting stroke which is unlike any other stroke in golf.

After an introduction to putting and the importance of this aspect of the game, participants will be able to “putz around” on the green. Some of the behavior on the green that we expect includes the rules for order of putting, but we will also review the need for ready golf among informal players, as well as care for the green if ball marks were created.

Session Three: “The importance of the short game.  Etiquette around the green and key components of your equipment. What’s in your bag?”

The third session will be another hands-on opportunity.  For this session you will need to bring your shorter clubs and at least 6 balls.  If you do not yet have clubs or balls please let us know at the time of registration so we can provide you with a few loaners. This aspect of the game involves short chips or pitches to get your ball as close to the pin (hole) as possible. Chipping and pitching present the golfer with many choices which we will review. Once again a review of etiquette around the green will be reviewed. Awareness of other players will be reviewed in greater detail as well the need to be quiet around and on the green.

Session Four: “Connecting the dots and providing you with the ABCs of the Coastal Chapter”.

The goal of this final session is to make sure you have all the information you need to access the member services of the Coastal NJ Chapter.  We will provide you with follow-up resources, and introduce to you our website as well as how to sign up for a league that is appropriate for you. We will provide a list of leagues.  We will discuss volunteer opportunities for you if you wish to get more involved with golf or with our chapter.  We want to reserve time for a question and answer period for you and to award you a “Certificate of Completion” for our Chapter 101 Program and make sure you have an LPGA Amateur souvenir.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO THIS OPPORTUNITY TO MEET AND GREET YOU!
