Player Information Sheet

 

 

Schedule of Play/Format:

• 36-holes, Four-Ball Stroke Play. Super Senior Division for competitors ages 65+. Super Senior Division competitors will also be competing for the overall Championship and will play from the same tees.
• In the event of a tie for first place, a hole-by-hole playoff will commence immediately following the completion of play at Country Club of New Bedford (Hole Sequence:– 18, 18, 1 repeated).

 

Rules of Play: The 2023 Rules of Golf are in effect and are supplemented by the MASS GOLF HARD CARD. The Committee will provide any additional Local Rules needed at the Championship site. It is the team’s responsibility to know the Terms of the Competition.

 

Policies & Procedures: Please refer to the Mass Golf POLICIES & PROCEDURES.

 

Golf Carts, Caddies, & Push/Pull Carts: Golf carts are permitted for the Championship proper and were included in the entry fee. The use of caddies, and push/pull carts is also permitted.

 

Starting Times: Can be found on the MASSACHUSETTS SENIOR FOUR-BALL CHAMPIONSHIP home page. Please make sure to be at your starting tee at least 10 minutes prior to your starting time to ensure that all proper instructions are received from the starter.

• For players starting on the 10^th tee at the Country Club of New Bedford, head out to your starting hole 30 minutes prior to your tee time. Please proceed with caution and follow the signage. There is a practice chipping/putting green out behind the 9^th green.

 

Tees/ Approximate Yardage: Approximate yardage for the Championship Proper will be approximately 6,250 yards for both courses.

Practice Round Information: Complimentary practice rounds will be available to all competitors at both courses at the discretion of the host club based on their availability. Please read carefully below.

 

Country Club of New Bedford Practice Rounds

• Availability – 4/23, & 4/26 after 11am, 5/7, 5/8, 5/9, after 11am, subject to tee availability
• Email the Richie Packish at richie@ccnbgolfclub.comno more than 5 days in advance to secure a tee time. 
• There will be a $30 mandatory cart/trail fee per player for each practice round. Cash/card accepted
• Competitors will be limited to one practice round and may be paired up with other Senior Four-Ball Championship competitors.
• Only one ball may be played per competitor during their practice round.
• Practice rounds are for players only – no guests or caddies allowed.
• There is no practice range on site at CC of New Bedford

Fall River Country Club Practice Rounds

• Availability – Mondays thru Fridays in April, preferably before 12pm on Fridays. Saturday and Sundays after 1pm in April. Subject to tee availability. 
• Anytime Monday/Tuesday/Thursdays in May, and after 1pm on Sat and Sun in May. Subject to tee availability. 
• Email the Tim Leigh at tim@fallrivercc.com no more than 3 days in advance to secure a tee time. 
• There will be a $30 mandatory cart/trail fee per player for each practice round. Cash/card accepted
• Competitors will be limited to one practice round and may be paired up with other Senior Four-Ball Championship competitors.
• Only one ball may be played per competitor during their practice round.
• Practice rounds are for players only – no guests or caddies allowed.
• There is no practice range on site at Fall River CC

 

 

Practice Facilities: Arrangements have been made for players to utilize the driving range at Whaling City Golf Course (581 Hathaway Road, New Bedford, MA 02740). All practice facilities/areas will be available starting at 6:30 AM on each day of the Championship proper. Both Fall River Country Club & Country Club of New Bedford have putting greens available.

• For players starting on the 10^th tee at Country Club of New Bedford, please use the practice facilities behind the 9^th green.

 

Food & Beverage Services: Mass Golf will provide a complimentary luncheon during Round 1 of the Championship proper at both courses. Additional F&B items will be available (Drinks, snacks, alcohol, etc.) for players/caddies/spectators at their own expense – Fall River CC (Cash and/or Credit Card accepted) & CC of New Bedford (Cash preferred and Credit Card accepted).  Breakfast services will be available to competitors at their own expense at Fall River Country Club ONLY. Lunch will be available for purchase at the players expense for Round 2 from the Club’s restaurant for all competitors.

 

Prizes: The James Shea Memorial Trophy and Super Senior Division Trophy will be presented to the Champions. Merchandise certificates will also be awarded and are only redeemable at the host site.
