The Champion of Champions tournament is a one-day, 18-hole stroke play invitational for Chicago-area men’s club champions. The event was first played in 1933 and was held annually by the CDGA until 1984, when it was last played at Chicago Golf Club. In 1998, with the support of the CDGA and the Western Golf Association, Park Ridge Country Club resurrected the tournament and has been the host venue and sponsor of the tournament ever since.
In 2017, the tournament was officially renamed as the Richard E. Peterson Champion of Champions, honoring Park Ridge Country Club member Rich Peterson, who was one of the driving forces in reviving the event and bringing it to its now permanent Park Ridge Country Club home.
2024 will represent the 73rd playing of the event, and its 27th since being revived at Park Ridge Country Club – we are grateful to the Park Ridge Country Club membership and for so many Clubs’ longtime support.
