Schedule of Play/Format:

 

Stroke Play

July 8th & 9th - Stroke Play (18-holes/day)

  • The low 32 players will qualify for Match Play beginning on Wednesday, July 10th
  • Any ties for the final match play qualifying place(s) will be determined by a hole-by-hole playoff, if needed on July 9th. 

 

Match Play

July 10th - Round of 32 (AM) and Round of 16 (PM).

July 11th - Quarterfinals (AM) and Semifinals (PM).

July 12th - Finals (36-holes)

 

Rules of Play: The 2023 Rules of Golf are in effect and are supplemented by the Mass Golf Hard Card. The Committee will provide any additional Local Rules needed at the Championship site. It is the individual player’s responsibility to know the Terms of the Competition.

Golf Carts, Caddies and Pull/Push Carts: Players may use caddies and/or pull/push carts during the Championship Proper. The use of automotive transportation is NOT permitted.

 

Starting Times (Rounds 1 & 2): Can be found on the Massachusetts Amateur home page.  Please make sure to be at your starting tee at least 10 minutes prior to your starting time to ensure that all proper instructions are received from the starter. 

The clocks at the 1st and 10th tees are the official time. 

 

Practice Facilities: The practice facilities will be open one hour before the first scheduled starting time, and will close after the last tee time of the day. The practice facilities will re-open ahead of any potential playoff for the final match play qualifying place(s). All competitors will be expected to walk to/from the practice facilities. 

 

Sunday, July 7th: For competitors wanting to preview the course just ahead of the Championship, competitors/caddies may WALK (no clubs or golf balls) the course on Sunday, July 7th after 3:00pm. 

  • The practice putting green and short game area will be available. The practice range will be closed. 

 

Yardage Books:

  • All yardage books (and greens guides) purchased through StrackaLine are compliant with the Rules of Golf and are permitted for use in Mass Golf championships.

 

Food & Beverage Services:

  • Lunch will be provided by Mass Golf for all competitors from approx. 11:00am to 3:00pm, on Monday July 8th in the Clubhouse (located behind the Pro Shop building/to the right of the Pool). 

 

  • Additional food and beverage services (including bar service) will be available to players, caddies, spectators, etc. in the Clubhouse at the individuals expense (Cash Only). Breakfast services will not be available during the week. 

 

  • Lunch for competitors and caddies will be provided by Mass Golf throughout Match Play. 

 

Parking: Parking will be extremely limited on Monday and Tuesday. PLEASE CARPOOL ACCORDINGLY WITH ANY CADDIES, SPECTATORS, FAMILY MEMBERS, ETC.

 

  • Additional overflow parking will be available at Framingham State University's Maple Street Lot. The GPS address for this parking lot is 123 Maple Street Framingham, MA 01702. Shuttle service will be provided to and from the course. 

 

Locker Room Facilities: Will be open and available for all competitors; individual locker space will not be available. 

 

Prizes: The Massachusetts Cup will be presented to the Champion. The Harry B. McCracken, Jr. medal will be awarded to the stroke play medalist(s). Merchandise certificates will be awarded to the 32 match play qualifiers and are only redeemable at the host site. 

 

U.S. Amateur Exemption: Starting in 2024, this year’s Mass Golf Amateur Champion will receive an exemption into the 2024 U.S. Amateur Championship (if eligible). All semifinalists in 2024 will be exempt through U.S. Amateur Local Qualifying in 2025.
