41st Massachusetts Mid-Amateur Championship

Entry Fee: $175.00

Entries Open: 5/15/2024 at 10:00am

Entries Close: 7/10/2024 at 5:00pm

 

Eligibility:

• Any amateur golfers (age 25+ as of Sept. 3, 2024) who have an active Mass Golf Membership.
• Handicap Index® not exceeding 4.0 (at the time of registration). [NEW IN 2024]
• Have played and posted 5 rounds at any Mass Golf member club/course within 12 months of the entry close date.

 

Entry Procedures:

Entries and fully paid entry fees must be received through the Mass Golf Online Entry process by 5:00pm EST on the published entry deadline.

 

Format:

Competition will be in two stages;
1. Sectional Qualifying - 18 Holes at Stroke Play (For all except Exempt entrants).
2. Championship Proper - 54 Holes at Stroke Play

 

Field:

The Championship Proper field is limited to 120 players (approx.; based on qualifying ties).
 

Exemptions (Upon receipt of the online registration and fee, the players in the following categories are exempt from Sectional Qualifying); 2024 Mid-Amateur Championship Exemptions

 

Schedule:

Sectional Qualifying; July 29 – August 21

Championship Proper
Round 1 – September 3 (18 Holes)
Round 2 – September 4 (18 Holes)

***The low 30 scorers and ties after 36-holes will continue play on September 5

Round 3 – September 5 (18 Holes)
Any tie for first place will be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole play-off.

 

Caddies & Automotive Transportation:

Players may use caddies, pull carts (at the host clubs(s) discretion) and/or automotive transportation during Sectional Qualifying and Championship Proper.

 

Food & Beverage:

A complimentary luncheon will be provided for all competitors on September 3 & 5.

 

Starting Times:

Qualifying Round Starting Times & Player Information will be emailed to all competitors shortly after the close of entries.

Championship Proper Starting Times & Player Information will be emailed to all competitors shortly after the last qualifier.

 

Prizes:

The Ted Bishop Cup will be awarded to the Champion. Merchandise certificates will be awarded and are only redeemable at the host site.

 

Trophy:

The Ted Bishop Cup will be presented to the Champion.

 

Practice Rounds:

Courtesy practice privileges are at the discretion of the host club(s). Mass Golf will provide details surrounding the availability of practice rounds ahead of the scheduled event; please refrain from contacting the host clubs until specific details are received from Mass Golf.

Withdrawal & Refund Policy:

Competitors withdrawing from a championship/qualifier should notify a member of the Mass Golf staff as soon as practicable. Refunds may be processed based on the following criteria:

• Prior to entries closing, Entry fee minus a $30 administrative fee will be refunded.

 

• After entries close and more than thirteen days before the day of the event, 50% of entry fee will be refunded.

 

• Within thirteen days of the event, or on the day of the event, NO refund will be processed.

 

Refunds will not be processed for competitors advancing through a qualifier who subsequently need to withdraw from the championship proper. Exempt players may be refunded according to the criteria above. The Mass Golf staff respectfully asks that if a player knowingly needs to withdraw from an event, please do so as soon as possible – out of respect and as a courtesy to any players on a waitlist/alternate list.
