IGA Father-Son Championship      (Scroll below to see Parent-Child Championship) 

 

ELIGIBILITY: 
At least one member of the Father/Son team must be a resident of Iowa.
    
DIVISIONS: 
There are three separate divisions.  The Open Division, the Young  Adult  Division (the son is 11 or 12 years old), and the Junior Division (the son is 10 years of age or younger).  

The Junior Division is broken into two flights; the 8 & under flight and the 9 & 10 year olds.  Be sure to mark the correct division or flight you wish to enter.  


NOTE: It is the Father’s responsibility to ensure that a child has both the ability and focus to participate in a competitive event.


FORMAT: 
All teams will play 18 holes of alternate shot. Open Division and Young Adult Division teams must choose one of two sessions to play in – Saturday or Sunday. Tee times begin at 7:30 AM each day.  You can request to be paired later in the day on Saturday. The child cannot have reached his 13th birthday on or before June 15, 2024 to compete in the Young Adult Division. Junior Division teams will play 18 holes on the Par-3 course on Saturday ONLY with tee times starting at 7:30 AM. The child cannot have reached his 11th birthday on or before June 15, 2024 to compete in the Junior Division. Each session will be flighted by 18-hole score.


PAIRINGS, TEE-TIMES: 
Tee times will be arranged in a fashion that best suit our host facility and the event (i.e. weather concerns). There will no longer be a separate morning and afternoon session on Saturday.  Play will be conducted throughout the day on Saturday with no major break between tee times.  You can request to play early or later on Saturday. The Junior Division will tee-off from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM on Saturday ONLY on the Par-3 Course. The IGA will make all attempts to meet pairing requests. We cannot guarantee that every request will be met.


PRACTICE PRIVILEGES: 
Practice rounds are at the discretion of the host course in terms of starting times and fees. Players are responsible for scheduling their own tee times with the host club. 


WITHDRAWALS AND REFUNDS: 
Entry fees will be refunded if the IGA office is notified on or before June 5, 2024. After June 5, fees will be refunded only in event of injury or illness. There will be a $20.00 service charge on all refunds.


ENTRIES — FORM, FEE, CLOSING DATE:
Entrants are solely responsible for securing and returning entry forms and fees by the due date. Entries must reach the IGA office by 11:59 P.M., June 5 and must be accompanied by the appropriate fee. You may enter online using a credit card at www. iowagolf.org up to the deadline or until a field limit is met. Late, unsigned or incomplete applications are not acceptable and will be returned.


CONDITIONS, SCHEDULES: 
The IGA reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein as needed. This may include, but is not limited to, suspending play to a following day, or canceling current or future rounds. The decision of the Tournament Committee in any matter shall be final. Under any circumstances, all possible attempts will be made to complete the event in the scheduled number of rounds.


PERSONAL APPEARANCE: 
Proper golf attire is mandatory; the committee reserves the right to determine whether this requirement is met. Competitors may be required to change clothing to compete. Shorts are permitted, provided they are Bermuda length or longer. T-shirts, tank tops, gym shorts, sweatpants and blue jeans are generally NOT permitted, however exceptions can be made for younger competitors. 


PACE OF PLAY: Under Rule 5.6b(3) the IGA has adopted pace of play guidelines that include the maximum period of time allotted to complete a stipulated round, number of holes and/or strokes. These guidelines and the resulting penalties will be made available to every competitor in advance of the championship.


RULES OF GOLF: 
Play will be governed by the Rules of Golf. Local rules on scorecards do not apply. Decisions concerning the rules will be settled by the Rules Committee assigned by the IGA and those decisions will be final.


RUN CONCURRENT WITH THE IGA PARENT/CHILD: Although they are distinctly separate championships with separate prize winners, the State Parent-Child Championship will be run concurrently with the IGA Father/Son Championship as part of the IGA’s Family Weekend.  Parent-Child teams and Father-Son teams will not be paired together unless specifically requested or necessary.
