115th Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship

ENTRY ELIGIBILITY, PROCEDURE & INFORMATION
Entries are open to male amateur golfers who have reached their 19th birthday on or before July 10th. Entrants younger than 19 years of age as of July 10th may participate in the championship if duly invited by the Committee. Applicants must have a USGA handicap index of 2.0 or less. The Championship Entry Fee is $400.
Tournament entries will open on Thursday, March 1st at 9:00 am (CST) and will close on Wednesday, June 6th at 5:00 pm (CST). All exempt players are required to register before Wednesday, May 2nd at 5:00 pm (CST). Entries will be reviewed in the order they are received by the Trans-Mississippi Championship Committee. Non-exempt applicants are not guaranteed a spot in the championship field; applicant entries will be reviewed based on playing experience, competitive success, rankings and merit against those of other applicants. Non-exempt applicants are encouraged to submit a playing resume (via email to Tournament Coordinator, Amanda Kolb) or other document(s) to substantiate their competitive history.
All entrants will be notified if they have been assigned a position in the starting field on or before Friday, June 8th. For more information, see the applicable Policies and Procedures.
EXEMPTIONS
All exempt players who meet the criteria outlined below are required to register before Wednesday, May 2nd at 5:00 pm (CST). Entries received from exempt players after Wednesday, May 2nd will be processed and reviewed with all other entries, including those of non-exempt applicants.
- Past Champions in the previous five (5) Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championships;
- Top 30 Finishers (and ties) in the 114th Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship;
- Previous year’s Low Mid-Amateur from the 114th Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship;
- Previous year’s Trans-Mississippi Senior Champion;
- Previous year’s Trans-Mississippi Four-Ball Champions (Championship Division Only);
- Current year’s GCSAA National Champion;
- Top 500 in the Scratch Player’s World Amateur Ranking (SPWAR)*;
- Top 300 in the R&A/USGA World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR)*;
- Previous five (5) U.S. Amateur Champions;
- Previous year’s U.S. Mid-Amateur Quarterfinalists;
- Trans-Mississippi Golf Association/Host Club Selections.
*Rankings are considered as of the date of entry being received.
FORMAT & FIELD SIZE
72 holes of stroke play; the field is limited to 144 competitors and will be reduced to the low 54 competitors (and ties) following the completion of the second round (36 holes).
CHAMPIONSHIP REGISTRATION
All competitors must register with Trans-Mississippi Golf Association staff prior to the start of the championship. Players that do not register may be subject to disqualification. Official tournament registration will be held at Brookside Golf & Country Club on Monday, July 9th from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Competitors who are unable to register on the date and time listed above must contact Trans-Mississippi Golf Association staff in advance of the Championship. Those who fail to register, and notify the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association of their intent to compete, risk forfeiting their spot in the field.
OFFICIAL PRACTICE ROUND
Players are limited to one (1) complementary practice round on the designated practice round date. All confirmed competitors must contact the golf shop at Brookside Golf & Country Club at (614) 889-1758 no earlier than Wednesday, June 20th, to schedule a practice round for Monday, July 9th.
PLAYER RECEPTION
Competitors and a guest are invited to attend a reception on Monday, July 9th at Brookside Golf & Country Club. The cost of the reception is included in the entry fee. The reception will begin at 6:30 pm. Dress code for the reception is, at minimum, golf attire.
STARTING TIMES/PAIRINGS
Starting times/pairings for the first and second rounds will be made available no later than Thursday, July 5th. Copies will also be distributed at registration, in the Trans-Mississippi Tournament Office and at Registration on Monday, July 9th. Third and fourth round starting times/pairings will be available in the evening preceding play (approximately one hour after the completion of play) online at www.trans-miss.org, in the Trans-Mississippi Tournament Office and the golf shop. Third and fourth round starting times will be re-drawn, based on total score, following the second and third rounds of play, respectively.

The Trans-Mississippi Golf Association, in partnership with Affinity Travel Benefits, has provided multiple accommodation options for players competing in the 115th Trans-Miss Amateur Championship. Please note that players must make reservations directly through the online portal in advance of the reservation deadlines established by each property.
HOST HOUSING
Private Housing is a courtesy Brookside Golf & Country Club and the Trans-Mississippi Golf Association will make best efforts to provide, on a limited basis, for this Championship. It offers players the opportunity to reduce traveling costs, while connecting players with the local community at the tournament. A code of conduct will be in effect during the player’s stay at a house; it is a privilege and can be taken away. Host housing will be available on a limited basis and will be assigned first-come-first-served. After Friday, June 8th, when the field has been set for the Championship, Host Housing Guidelines will be sent to the players in the field that indicated interest in private housing during the registration process. Housing assignments will be designated as players return a completed Host Housing Guideline sheet. It will be the player’s responsibility to contact their Host Family prior to arrival to discuss arrival and departure times, emergency contact information, etc. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Amanda Kolb at akolb@trans-miss.org.
TRANSPORTATION/CADDIES
The 115th Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship is a walking-only event; players must be prepared to walk at all times during the championship. Caddies are permitted during the championship and a limited number of host club caddies may be available; please contact the Host Club Golf Shop for availability and fees. Push/pull carts are permitted, however players are responsible for supplying their own.
CLUBHOUSE FACILITIES
The Clubhouse facilities at Brookside Golf & Country Club will be open daily at 6:00 am. Player’s will be responsible for breakfast/lunch purchased on the practice round day. Breakfast and lunch are provided for all four days of the championship and are included with each competitor’s entry fee for the championship. Guests may dine with players, but will be charged the appropriate cost for the same meal. Acceptable forms of payment in the Brookside Golf & Country Club Clubhouse will be distributed to players in advance of the championship.
All other food and beverage consumed will be at the competitor’s expense – breakfast and lunch options will be available for purchase as noted above; all charges will include appropriate gratuity charge and sales tax.
PRACTICE FACILITIES
Practice Facilities at Brookside Golf & Country Club will be available to all competitors for the duration of the Championship. The practice facilities will open Monday, July 9th at 7:00 am and throughout each championship round, beginning one hour prior to the first starting time. The practice range will close one hour before dusk for maintenance.
LOCKERS & CLUB STORAGE
There will be limited availability of lockers and club storage available at Brookside Golf & Country Club during the championship. More details will be available at Championship Registration once on-site.
POLICIES & PROCEDURES & CONDITIONS OF COMPETITION
The Trans-Mississippi Code of Conduct and Dress Code are in effect throughout the championship. Violations will be dealt with based on the severity of the misconduct. All competitors should be familiar with all Trans-Mississippi Conditions of Competitions and Policies. GROOVE CONDITION OF COMPETITION
Beginning January 1st, 2014, the Trans-Miss Golf Association Championship Committee will follow the United States Golf Association (USGA) in implementing the condition of competition for this Championship ONLY that limits players to clubs manufactured with grooves and/or punch marks that conform to all aspects of the Rules of Golf, including those that were made effective on January 1st, 2010. This Condition of Competition reads as follows:
"The player's clubs must conform to the groove and punch mark specifications in the Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010.”
Details of the condition are described in Decision 4-1/1 in the Decisions on the Rules of Golf. To determine if a club or set of clubs conforms to the new specifications, players should first search the Informational Club Database (Grooves) which is available on the USGA Informational Club Database.
ONE BALL CONDITION
The ‘One Ball Condition’ is in effect for the championship (see Appendix I, page 156) and only brands on the current USGA Conforming Golf Ball List are permitted for use. Please click here for the most current list.
DISTANCE-MEASURING DEVICES
The optional condition as prescribed (see Appendix I, page 153) is in effect for the championship, for devices that measure distance only.
WITHDRAWAL/NO SHOW POLICY
If you find you cannot compete in the championship, you must officially withdraw from the event by contacting Trans-Mississippi Staff at (214) 468-8942, ext. 126 or by emailing ccrawford@trans-miss.org. If you do not officially withdraw, you may be subject to DISQUALIFICATION from the 115th Trans-Mississippi Amateur Championship. Any player withdrawing prior to June 6th at 5:00 pm will receive a full refund, less a $25.00 administrative fee. Any withdrawals after the June 6th deadline, will not receive a refund unless a spot is filled by a competitor on the waitlist.
