Notice to Players

104th Western Pennsylvania Junior Championship  - Conducted by the Western Pennsylvania Golf Association

Monday   June 10, 2024 - Shannopin Country Club, Pittsburgh, PA

 

This notice serves as confirmation of entry into the WPGA Junior Amateur Championship on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Shannopin Country Club in Pittsburgh, PA.  Additional information will be distributed on the starting tees. The locker room and practice facility will open at least one hour before the first tee time on the day of the tournament.

 

At least one member of each grouping is required to download the Golf Genius scoring app prior to arrival.  The group's GGID will be provided on the starting tee.  

 

Format:  The competition is 36 holes of stroke play. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf and any Local Rules and Conditions distributed at the starting tees. In the event of a tie for first place, a hole-by-hole playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee.

 

Tee Markers:  Play will be from the WPGA White Tee Markers.  The course will play par 71 at 6,400 yards depending on conditions and subject to change.  The starting tees will be holes # 1 and # 10 for both the morning and afternoon rounds.

 

Pace of Play:  The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty minutes (4:20).  A checkpoint system will be in place.

 

Practice: Practice rounds may be scheduled and must be pre-arranged by contacting the golf shop at 412-761-6377.  The Golf Professional is Eric Teasdale.  Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player.

 

Transportation/Caddies:  Walking is required for the competition. Players may bring their own caddies.  Parents or Guardians are not permitted to caddy for their child.  Players are permitted to use push trolleys for the round.

 

Food: Lunch is included and will be available at the conclusion of the morning round.

 

Footwear:   Model Local Rule G-7 Prohibiting the Use of Certain Types of Shoes is in effect.  Shoes with traditional metal spikes or spikes of any design that are partially or entirely made of metal are prohibited.

 

Lodging: Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Camp Horne Road area near Interstate 279. 

 

Evacuation Plan:  In the event of a suspension of play for a dangerous situation, all players are to immediately return to the clubhouse.  WPGA staff and volunteers will assist in the evacuation.

 

NOTE:  A suspension of play for a dangerous situation will be signaled by one prolonged air horn note.  All other suspensions of play will be signaled by three consecutive air horn notes.  Resumption of play will be signaled by two short air horn notes.

 

 

Spectator Info: No spectator carts will be permitted for the round without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines.
