FIELD LIMIT

Field will be limited to 80 qualified Seniors and 40 qualified Super Seniors. At the close of entry, the field will be filled by the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes in addition to exempt players.

 

ENTRY DEADLINE

Entry applications, along with the appropriate fee, must be completed or received by WA Golf by
4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, 2023.

 

REFUND POLICY

Refunds due to cancellation before the close of entry are subject to a $10 service charge. After the close of entry and up until round one pairings are released, players who withdraw for any reason will be refunded 50% of the entry fee. No refund for any reason will be issued after round one parings have been released.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

Course yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions. Hole-by-hole yardages are posted on the championship portal and will be emailed to players.

Senior Yardage: 6,483 yards, par-72

Super Senior Yardage: 5,953 par-72

 

ONSITE REGISTRATION

All contestants must register in person with WA Golf at Yakima Country Club prior to teeing off in Round 1. Registration will be located outside the prop shop during the following times:

Monday, June 3: 12:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Tuesday, June 4: 6:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS

Round one and two starting times will be released on Tuesday, May 28. Contestants will be re-paired by gross scores for the final round, with the leaders starting last. Preferred starting time requests will not be accepted. Starting times will be posted on the WA Golf website (WAgolf.org), on the championship portal and will be emailed to each player.

 

SCHEDULE

54-hole stroke play. In the event of a tie for the championship, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held immediately following play to determine the winner.

 

TUESDAY, JUNE 4 – ROUND 1              

Super Senior: 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. off the #1 tee

Senior: 10:20 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. off the #1 tee

 

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 5 – ROUND 2      

Senior: 7:00 a.m. – 9:40 a.m. off the #1 tee

Super Senior: 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. off the #1 tee

 

THURSDAY, JUNE 6 – ROUND 3                         

Super Senior: 7:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. off the #1 tee

Senior: 10:20 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. off the #1 tee

 

PRACTICE ROUND

Contestants may play one complimentary practice round prior to the championship. Practice rounds will be available after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 2 and Monday, June 3 for out-of-town contestants. Local contestants can play a practice round in the week prior on a space available basis at the discretion of the golf shop. All practice round starting times are at the discretion of the golf shop staff. Tee times can be made by calling the Yakima Country Club golf shop at (509) 452-2266 beginning on May 22 after entries have closed and the field is set.

 

FOOD SERVICE (NO-HOST)

On Monday, June 5, food service will be available at the snack bar from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. On Tuesday – Thursday food service will be available in the clubhouse restaurant from 11:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. and at the snack bar from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Dinner will be available in the clubhouse on Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Grab and go snacks and drinks will be available in the pro shop each morning.

 

BOTTLED WATER

WA Golf will provide bottled water during the championship. Coolers will be at multiple locations on the golf course. A beverage cart will not be on the course during play. 

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT

All major credit cards and charge back to in-network private clubs are accepted in the golf shop, clubhouse and snack bar. Cash is not accepted.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

The golf shop and driving range will be open from 6:00 a.m. – Dusk on Tuesday – Thursday. The golf shop and driving range will open at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, June 3.

 

RANGE BALLS

Warm up range balls will be provided to contestants on the driving range before each round.

 

CARTS

Carts are $22 per day and fees were collected during registration. Players must register and pay for a cart during registration or contact WA Golf to reserve a cart before Tuesday, May 28.

**No cart reservations will be accepted after May 28 under any circumstance**

 

SPECTATOR CARTS

To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted by WA Golf. 


CHAMPIONSHIP ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABLED SPECTATORS

WA Golf is committed to providing an enjoyable spectator experience for people with disabilities at WA Golf Championships. Requests from spectators seeking transportation onto the golf course due to a permanent disability, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should be submitted one week in advance to the WA Golf Championship Department. While spectator carts may not always be available at each site, WA Golf will make every effort to accommodate these requests when available. 

Generally, an ADA covered disability is defined as a “physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of the individual”. See, 42 USCA §12102. Spectators with a “temporary” injury or impairment that is not an ADA disability will not be allowed use of a golf cart under this Policy.

Spectators with transportation needs must contact the WA Golf Championship Department prior to the championship. This full policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies.

 

CADDIES

Host club caddies will not be available. A player may provide his own caddie. Caddies will be required to wear a caddie bib provided on the starting tee.

 

PRIZES

All prizes will be awarded according to 54-hole scores (gross only).
 

Champion: Trophy and merchandise credit.
Runner-up: Trophy and merchandise credit.

Other top finishers: Merchandise credit.

 

All merchandise credit must be redeemed in the Yakima Country Club golf shop. Crystal awards will also be given to any contestant who scores a hole-in-one or eagle during the championship. 

 

AWARDS CEREMONY

WA Golf will host an awards ceremony on Thursday, June 6 immediately upon the completion of play in each championship.

 

EXEMPTIONS

The 2024 Washington Senior Men’s Amateur Champion will receive a lifetime exemption into the Washington Senior Men’s Amateur Championship as well as the 2025 Washington Men’s Amateur Championship and the 2025 PNGA Senior Men’s Amateur Championship.

 

The 2024 Washington Super Senior Men’s Amateur Champion will receive a lifetime exemption into the Washington Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championship as well as the 2025 PNGA Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championship. 

 

The 2024 Washington Senior and Super Senior Amateur Champions will also receive an exemption into the 2025 Washington Champion of Champions.

 

PERFORMANCE POINTS LIST

Points for the WA Golf Senior Men’s Amateur are allocated as follows: Champion, 60 points; Runner-up, 35 points; Top 5 players, 20 points each; Top 10 players, 10 points each.

 

GHIN SCORE POSTING

WA Golf will post competition scores for all players to the USGA GHIN System.

 

DRESS CODE

Players and caddies must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing while on host club property. The WA Golf Dress Code Policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies and will be provided to all players, along with any additional measures required by the host club, in the Player Memorandum.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

WA Golf expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property during a WA Golf Championship. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time, from any WA Golf event. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:
 

  • Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
  • Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
  • Damaging host club, WA Golf, and/or fellow contestant property
  • Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or WA Golf volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
  • Potential endangerment of others
  • Intentionally violating stated club policy
  • Violation of WA Golf Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
  • Other conduct deemed unbecoming

 

The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.

 

STROKE LIMIT POLICY

Players must return a score within 15 strokes of the course rating in at least one of the three rounds. Failure to do so will disqualify the player from entering the Washington Senior or Super Men’s Amateur Championship for a minimum of one year.

 

UNOFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL

After the entry deadline and during play of the championship, players must notify WA Golf and state his need to withdraw. Entrants who unofficially withdraw (by not notifying WA Golf or without having sufficient reason) will not be granted entry into any future WA Golf Championship for a minimum of two years.

 

PACE OF PLAY POLICY

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s Pace of Play Policy, which is in effect at all championships.

 

LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s 2024 Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be in effect at all championships.

 

PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT

Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.
