The Triangular matches started in 1927. It is a competition between the Senior organizations from Westchester, Long Island and New Jersey. The first Triangular Match was at Rockwood Hall Country Club. At the time it was located in Sleepy Hollow. The club was on the site of Rockwood Hall estate that was owned by the Rockefellers. The club and buildings no longer exist. The site is now Rockwood Park. The permanent Triangular trophy is on display at Golf Central, the MGA office.
The Matches rotate each year from Westchester, Long Island and New Jersey.
Each Organization is represented by players from each age group. There are a total of thirty six (36) players, twelve from each organization. Each player has two matches against the other organization.
Triangular Team Selection:
All Flight winners will be awarded 3 points
Second Place - 2 points
Third place - 1 point
5 Points to Tournament Champion, Gross
4 Points to Tournament Champion Runner up
Championship Representative will go to the most gross points won in tournaments. Handicap will also be considered.
Points will be added at the end of the season.
Players with the most points will represent WSGA at the Triangular. If additional players are needed, they will be selected according to their point total.
The more tournaments you enter, the better your chances are to qualify.
