London Amateur Foursomes 2024

Ladies London Foursomes 2024

In an effort to address slow play the London Foursomes Organising Committee has adopted the following pace of play condition

Pace of Play Condition

Allotted Time

Each group is allotted 3 hours and 30 minutes on the High course and 3 hours 25 minutes on the West course to complete their match at a pace detailed below.  Time for walking between holes is included in the allotted time.

Out of Position

A match will be considered “out of position” if it is not within the starting gap of the match ahead or has taken longer than the time allowed by the pace of play.  When a group falls behind – regardless of the reason – it must regain its position.

Play of the hole must be completed in the following times

Individual Timing Procedure

1. If a decision is taken to time the match all 4 players will be subject to individual timing by the Roving Rules Official.

2. The maximum time allocated per shot is 40 seconds.  10 extra seconds are allowed for the first player to play

                a) on a par 3         b) his/her approach shot   and         c) a chip or putt

3. The timing will start when a player approaches his/her ball, has had a few seconds to select his/her club and is able to play without distraction.  Time spent determining yardage will count as time taken for the next stroke.

4. Timing ceases when a match is back in position and players will be advised accordingly.

5. Where possible, the match behind will be advised that the match in front is being timed.

Penalty for Breach of Condition

1 Bad Time            The side will be warned by the Official and told that if either player has a further bad time the side will be penalised.

2 Bad Times           Loss of Hole

3 Bad Times           Final Warning

4 Bad Times          Loss of Match

Information for Players

As long as you keep up with the match ahead, your match will not be “out of position”.

There will be Rules Officials in buggies on both courses.

In addition to the above a player may be individually timed.  If his/her time exceeds 60 seconds the player will incur a

warning.  Any future bad times will result in penalties as highlighted in clause 6 above.
