Friday 11th October to Sunday 13th October 2024

TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

Eligibility

The tournament is a scratch foursomes match play competition open to all clubs within a 40–mile radius of Charing Cross (WC2).  The three hosting Clubs may nominate two pairs.  Other Clubs may nominate two pairs (A and B) with the B pair only being eligible to ensure a full field.

Regulations

  • Open to male amateur golfers. Any Junior entrants are the responsibility of the Club they are representing.
  • Maximum of 64 pairs, nominated and entered by the Club.  Personal entries will not be accepted.  A full entry fee must accompany the entry.
  • Entries are accepted on a first come basis.  If entries exceed 64 the Club’s A teams will be kept on a reserve list and then their B teams.  If entries are fewer than 64 at the closing date B pairs (except for the three host Clubs) will be entered. A reserve list will be maintained.
  • Details of the draw and reserve list will be emailed to successful Clubs and published on the LAF website and on Golf Genius.
  • Withdrawals will only be accepted from the Club. If the withdrawal is prior to the closing date their entry will be deleted and any entry fee reimbursed. The reserve list will be maintained and managed by the Committee.  In exceptional circumstances (e.g. to ensure a full field after a very late withdrawal) at the sole discretion of the Committee a reserve/reserves may be offered a place depending on whether they can be contacted irrespective of their place on the list.  In the event of a withdrawal after the closing date the entry fee will not be refunded.
  • All entries shall be subject to the approval of the Committee which reserves the right to accept, refuse or cancel an entry without giving reasons for its decision.

Terms of Competition

  • The matches shall be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf, the Club Local Rules and such Additional Local Rules as shall be approved by the Committee.
  • One player representing each pair must register in person before their first match
  • Each match will consist of one round of 18 holes foursomes played off scratch.  Any match that is all square after 18 holes must continue play until one pair wins a hole and such additional holes constitute a continuation of the round.  No further play is permitted once a match has been decided.  A player must not practice on the competition course(s) before or between rounds.  Exception - the Committee may permit a pair whose first round opponents have been DQ’d under Rule 5.3a to play the first 10 holes of that allocated course but they must play foursomes and only at the tee-time set by the Committee which may be later.
  •  No substitutions are allowed after the commencement of play.
  • Players must walk at all times unless permitted to ride by the Committee.  Each player is responsible for playing without undue delay.  England Golf Transportation and Pace of Play Policies are to be observed.
  • The Committee reserves the right to arrange and/or alter starting times and to change the Rules and Terms of Competition. If in the opinion of the Committee it becomes impossible to complete the tournament in accordance with the Terms because of adverse weather or other circumstances it reserves the right to cancel or postpone indefinitely the event.
  • The decision of the Committee is final in all matters.
