20th OJGT/TJGT Red River Team Challenge Event Information

METHOD OF PLAY

36-Holes, Team & Individual Stroke Play

 

Teams are comprised of 48 players from OJGT & TJGT, 96 players total. The 48 players representing each organization will comprise of 32 boys, 16 girls.

 

The field will be divided into the following divisions:

  • Overall Individual Boys
  • Overall Individual Girls
  • Team Competition (Four-Ball Stroke Play, Two Individuals from Same Organization vs. Two from Other Organization, Lower Score Receives a Point, Team with Most Points wins Red River Team Challenge Cup)

 

In the event of a tie for first place in the individual competitions, there will be a sudden-death playoff to determine a sole winner. Should there be an inability to conduct a playoff (course availability, weather, darkness, etc.), ties will be broken using the USGA method of matching cards (Total Score of Second Round, Last 9 Holes, Last 6 Holes, Last 3 Holes, then 18th Hole Going Back to #1). Any other ties for prizes in the individual competition (other than first place) will broken using the USGA method of matching cards.

 

In the event of a tie for first place in the team competition, the organization that previous won will retain the Red River Team Challenge Cup.

 

Conditions of the playoff will be announced on-site by the OJGT Rules Committee.

 


EXEMPTIONS/QUALIFYING

Players in the following categories will be exempt from qualifying through OJGT Player of the Year points (assuming they have played in two OJGT events in the current season):

 

  1. All OJGT members who are ranked in the top 100 nationally Junior Golf Scoreboard Rankings as of September 1st of that season.
  2. All OJGT members who qualify to play in the USGA Boys’ or Girls’ Junior Amateur Championships of that season.
  3. The current OGA Boys and Girls Stroke Play Champions for that season if still eligible.
  4. The winner of the Red River Challenge from the prior year if that player is otherwise eligible and a member of the OJGT for the current season.

 

Exemption invitees will be notified after September 1st.

 

Note: The participation in the OGA Junior Championship counts as an event for an automatic invitation.

 

All other spots will be earned based on the final OJGT Player of the Year points after the Fall Finale. Ties for the final qualifying spot will be broken based on points earned starting with the last event of the season (i.e. if Player A earns more points than Player B, the Player A will earn a spot). This same process will progress backward through the season until the tie is broken (second to last event, third to last event, etc.). If a tie still remains, it will be broken using a random method.
