Hi everyone,

First and foremost, the staff at AZ Golf would like to thank you for your continued support of the Association and specifically the Father/Son Championship. This event has been a staple of the Arizona Golf Community since its inception, and we are extremely excited to be celebrating the event’s 65th year this summer.

The championship has reached unprecedented levels of success and popularity over the last few years and in turn has prompted our staff to review how the event and, more specifically, registration are administered.

This year we will be moving away from the traditional paper entry forms and will be utilizing online registration via Golf Genius Software. The person responsible for signing up your teams will need a Golf Genius Profile. To set up your profile click HERE. There will be a 10-day signup window that will open on March 13th at 8:00AM and close on March 22nd at midnight. After registration has closed, we will utilize a lottery system to determine entries. This will allow entrants ample time to enter their teams and provides an equitable signup process for all potential entrants. All entrants will be updated on their entry status no later than April 1st, 2024. Any entries that are not selected this year will be moved to the top of the lottery order for next year’s event.

Secondly, the minimum age requirement for the event will be raised to 13(calculated as of June 8th, 2024) and all players will now be required to have an active GHIN membership(Golf Professionals exempt from GHIN number requirement). The active GHIN membership may be from Arizona or your state of residence. We will continue to utilize Callaway scoring if one or both team members do not have enough scores present for a Handicap Index calculation. If you need a GHIN Membership, click HERE.

While we understand these changes are significant in nature, we believe they will lead to a more equitable and streamlined entry process and in turn, a more enjoyable player experience the weekend of the Championship.

The summary of changes are as follows:

  • Online registration utilizing Golf Genius-Registration window opening March 13th at 8:00AM.
  • A lottery system will be used to determine entries.
  • Active GHIN membership required for all players(Golf Professionals exempt from GHIN number requirement).
  • Minimum age requirement of 13 as of June 8th, 2024.
