MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS


 

CHAMPIONSHIPS, FORMAT, AND CUT INFORMATION

This championship is a three-day 54-hole stroke play competition. There is a cut after 18 holes (low-60 and ties) and 36 holes (low-30 and ties).

Listed below is the tentative schedule of events for this year’s championship. Please note that this schedule is subject to change. Any changes will necessitate an email to the field with an update.

REGISTRATION
Players who plan to arrive at Crag Burn on Thursday, September 21 for practice rounds must register in-person with NYSGA staff by the pro shop. If a player cannot register in-person, they must do so by
completing this survey. Failure to register may result in the forfeiture of your spot in the championship.

GOLF CARTS
The use of a golf cart is approved, the fee is $30 and is payable in the pro shop before each round. The NYSGA's One-Seat Policy is in effect - either the player or his caddie can ride, never both at the same time. If only two players are riding, they must take one cart.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS - ONLINE REGISTRATION OPENS 9/8 (NOON)

A complimentary practice round is available on Thursday, September 21. You may only schedule practice round tee times online via this website (registration opens Friday, September 8 at 12pm). DO NOT CALL THE PRO SHOP

DRIVING RANGE

The driving range will be provided complimentary to players (see schedule for times).

 

CONTESTANT LUNCHES

Lunch is complimentary for players during each competition round. Spectators and caddies may purchase lunch ($30). There will be a cash bar.

CASH ONLY IN CLUBHOUSE
Only cash payments will be accepted in the clubhouse.

 

ON-COURSE WATER & SNACKS

Water bottles and fruit/snacks will be provided on the golf course for players/caddies only.

 

TRANSPORTATION/CART REQUESTS

Players must not ride on any form of transportation during practice or stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee. The optional condition prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect will be in effect. A disabled player or caddie may be permitted to use a golf cart as an accommodation to his or her ability. As required by the ADA, the NYSGA will evaluate such requests on a case-by-case basis.

CADDIES

A player may provide his own caddie but they are not required. All caddies will be required to use an NYSGA bib during competition rounds. Bibs can be checked out at the registration table (license or a credit card is required as a deposit) prior to each round.

PUSH CARTS

The use of a push cart, whether manual or electric, is permitted. A seat attachment must not be used.
 

GOLF CARTS AND THE NYSGA 'ONE-SEAT' POLICY

The use of a golf cart for all rounds (including the practice round) is permitted. The fee is $30 and is payable to the pro shop prior to each round.
 

The NYSGA's 'One-Seat' Policy is in effect. This policy permits either the player or his caddie to ride, but never both at the same time. If there are only two players riding in a group, they will be required to take one cart. Exceptions to this policy are made when the player's caddie has been approved for a handicap cart (see below).

 

SPECTATORS AND CARTS

Spectators are encouraged to attend but must follow commonsense guidelines. Spectators should stay 'outside the ropes', including off tees, bunkers, and putting greens. They should maintain a reasonable distance (20+ yards) from players and to always walk with or ahead of their group. Spectators must not give players advice, doing so could result in the player being penalized. Spectators who are in breach of these recommendations may be subject to removal from the golf course.

 

The NYSGA will accommodate caddies or spectators with an ADA disability by allowing them to ride in their own golf cart. To request this accommodation, a caddie or spectator must complete an return the NYSGA Golf Cart Request Form at least 24 hours in advance.

 

ACCOMMODATIONS

The NYSGA does not have a group hotel rate assigned for this Championship.

 

LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS
Listed below are a number of important Conditions of Competition and Local Rules for this Championship.

  • RULES OF GOLF; WHEN COMPETITION IS FINAL. Play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and R&A. Questions are to be referred to the NYSGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final. The result of this Championship is final when the Championship trophy has been presented.
  • NYSGA LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION (HARD CARD). Download the 2023 NYSGA Hard Card (click here).
  • GOLF BALLS; DRIVER HEADS. Model Local Rules G-1 and G-3 are in effect. Visit the USGA website for a list of approved golf balls (click here) and driver heads (click here).
  • PERSONAL APPEARANCE. Players must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing.

 

WITHDRAWALS

To withdraw, promptly notify the NYSGA (champs@nysga.org). Failure to do so may result in disqualification from future NYSGA competitions.

 

PACE OF PLAY

It is a condition that players must play without undue delay in accordance with guidelines established by the Committee - the  NYSGA's Pace of Play Policy - click here.

 

EVACUATION PLAN
In the event of a discontinuance of play for a dangerous situation (one prolonged air-horn note), competitors must return to the clubhouse immediately.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

The NYSGA's Code of Conduct is in effect. The NYSGA reserves the right to revoke a player's tournament entry, without a refund, at any time for conduct deemed inappropriate or damaging to the NYSGA.
