We wish to thank our event Title Sponsor JM MEDIA GROUP and Presenting Sponsor GLOBAL BC for their support of this year’s event.  And of course, a huge shout-out to our host clubs for welcoming this year’s 78th BC Match Play to their clubs.  In particular to the prestigious Vancouver Golf Club (est. 1910) for hosting the Quarterfinals, Semi-Finals and Finals Matches of this year’s event! What an experience this will be for teams who qualify through!!

 

TEAM REGISTRATION + GOLF GENIUS PROFILE SET-UP

 

In order to register your team, both players must have a Golf Genius profile set-up (see link below).

You do not have to be a member of VGT to play this event.

Once your profile is verified, including your Golf Canada or USGA ID, you will have access to register for the event.  If both partners have a golf genius ID, then you may register your team right away.

 

TOURNAMENT DETAILS

The BC Match Play Championship is a 2-player team event with two divisions (OPEN & NET).  Teams choose one division to register for based on their qualifications (see below) and will register for one of the two Qualifying Sites listed below. 

 

 

The top 31 teams out of 50 registered in each division will qualify for the Match Play Draw.  Last year's Champions in both the OPEN & NET division will make the 32nd team (and 1st seed) in the 32-player Match Play Draw. 

 

18-HOLE QUALIFYING

All registered teams (except 2022 Champions who are exempt) will select one of two qualifying sites below to gain entry into the Match Play rounds:

 

Qualifying Site #1: Sept.16th @ Green Tee Country Club (48 Teams total).  TEE-TIMES: 9am to 1pm 

Qualifying Site #2: Sept.17th – Golden Eagle North GC (52 Teams total).  TEE-TIMES: 10am to 2pm

 

  • The top 31 teams out of 50 in each Division (Open & Net) will qualify to play in the Match Play commencing Sept.30th! The 2022 Champions in each division will be exempt into the Match Play.

 

MATCH PLAY ROUNDS

ROUND OF 32: Saturday, Sept.30th @ Sandpiper Golf Resort (9am-2pm)

ROUND OF 16: Sunday, Oct.1st @ Chilliwack Golf Club (11am-1:30pm)

QUARTER-FINALS: SUNDAY, OCT.8th @ the Vancouver Golf Club (12pm-1:10pm start)

SEMI-FINALS: Saturday, Oct.14th @ the Vancouver Golf Club (1pm-1:30pm)

FINALS: Sunday, Oct.15th @ the Vancouver Golf Club (1pm start)

 

ELIGIBILITY    

OPEN DIVISION                                                                                                     

The BC Match Play OPEN Championship is a 2-player “Scratch” team event open to all Professionals and Amateurs (or Juniors) with a registered GOLF CANADA handicap of 5.0 or less. No strokes are given. 

 

NET DIVISION

The BC Match Play NET Championship is a 2-player NET team event (using 75% of handicaps) and is open to all Amateurs and Juniors (14+years) with a valid Golf Canada, USGA or World handicap index of 26.0 & under.

 

EVENT FORMAT

 

OPEN DIVISION

The Open Division Qualifying format is an 18-hole, two-player team event based on best ball medal gross score. The top 31 teams out of 50 will qualify to play in the OPEN Match Play Draw commencing Sept.30th at Sandpiper Golf Resort. 

Our 2022 Open Champions are exempt from qualifying and will enter the Match Play draw as the #1 seed.

All other teams that qualify will be seeded #2 to #32 for the Match Play draw based on their best ball gross score.

 

NET DIVISION

The Net Division Qualifying format is an 18-hole, two player team event based on best ball medal

NET SCORE (using 75% of each player’s handicap). 

The top 31 teams out of 50 will qualify to play in the NET DIVISION Match Play Draw commencing on Sept.30th at Sandpiper Golf Resort.

Our 2022 Open Champions are exempt from qualifying and will enter the Match Play draw as the #1 seed.

All other teams that qualify will be seeded #2 to #32 for the Match Play draw based on their best ball gross score.

 

NOTE: We will make all attempts to even out the playing field at each qualifying venue so there are 24 OPEN & 24 NET teams qualifying at Site #1 and 26 Open & 26 Net teams qualifying at Site 2.

If we cannot make the split an even 50/50 split between Open & Net teams at both sites, the # of teams advancing from each qualifying site will be based on the total # of teams in each (open & net) division qualifying at each site versus the total qualifying field size per division. 

 

*WITH A FULL FIELD OF 50 TEAMS PER DIVISION:

 

Qualifying Site #1 (Sept.16th Green Tee):

With 24 Teams per division Qualifying, the top 15 teams qualify per division.

Qualifying Site #2 (Sept.17th Golden Eagle):

With 26 Teams per division qualifying, the top 16 teams qualify per division.

 

TIES & PLAYOFFS

In case of a tie for the final qualifying spot at any site, a playoff will commence immediately to determine the final team(s) entered in the OPEN or NET tournament.

 

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:

EXTENDED to Wednesday, Sept. 13th @ 6:00PM.

 

 

TOTAL PRIZE PURSE: $23,000*

OPEN PURSE: $15,000. First Place Team: $5,000/Team* ($2,500/ea)

NET PURSE: $8,000. First Place Team: $2,000/Team* ($1,000/ea.)

All teams that make it to the Quarter finals will prize-out!

 

*Purses and payouts are based on a full-field of 100 teams (50 OPEN & 50 NET).

 

*Amateurs who choose to play for the OPEN PURSE are entitled to pay the same entry fee as the Pros and win a maximum CASH PRIZE value of $1,200 per person.  

Amateurs playing for AMATEUR PRIZES ONLY will pay the standard Amateur entry fee and are entitled to a Maximum Gift Credit value of $1,000.  

If the winning team in the OPEN DIVISION consists of one Pro and one Amateur, the Professional would win a maximum $2,500 cash prize and his/her amateur partner will win either a $1,200 CASH PRIZE (Open Div. player) or a $1,000 VGT Prize voucher (Amateur Div. player). 

The balance of the 1st prize would then be dispersed and shared between the Runners-up and Semi-Finalists.

 

CONFIRMING YOUR TEAM REGISTRATION:

 

FULL TEAM Entry Fees must be paid before your team is confirmed in the tournament.  

 

TEAM ENTRIES

  • Please have one player on your team register for the Qualifying Site of their choice through Golf Genius.
  • Please have one player on the team pay the full team entry fee through Golf Genius and make arrangements to have your playing partner e-transfer you their share of the entry.
  • Qualifying Sites will be filled on a first-come-first serve basis.  
    • Max Qualifying Field on Site #1: 24 Open, 24 Net Teams (48 teams total)
    • Max Qualifying Field on Site #2: 26 Open; 26 Net Teams (52 teams total)

 

SINGLE PLAYERS LOOKING TO REGISTER:

  • Please send an email to info@vancouvergolftour.com with your name, handicap, NET or OPEN event, and your preferred qualifier site.
  • Pairings will be done randomly based on date of their entry being received.
  • Your Team entry will be confirmed when we have received 2 x single entries in the same Division.

 

REGISTRATION DEADLINE:

EXTENDED to Wednesday, Sept.13th @ 6:00PM or when the field is full with paid team entries, whichever comes first.

 

QUALIFYING FEES:

 

AMATEURS: $160+GST ($168)      

PROFESSIONALS: $200+GST/pp ($210)

QUALIFYING FEES INCLUDE:

  • Qualifying round green fees
  • A $20 lunch voucher per player
  • Amateurs receive a Dozen Srixon balls per player (Z-Star, Diamond or XV Balls)

 

MATCH PLAY FEES:

Once qualified, teams are required to pay the following Match Play round fees:

 

ROUND ONE: SANDPIPER GOLF RESORT (Sept.30th)

 

PROFESSIONAL: $100+GST/PLAYER       AMATEUR:  $100+GST/PLAYER

 

  • Includes green fee & a $20 meal voucher per player.
  • The balance of Pro fee ($80) is contributed directly to the Open Purse.

 

ROUND TWO: CHILLIWACK GOLF CLUB (Oct.1st)

 

PROFESSIONAL: $20+GST/PLAYER                      AMATEUR: $75+GST/PLAYER

Includes green fee, range warm-up & lunch at the turn.

 

QUARTER-FINALS: VANCOUVER GOLF CLUB (Sunday, Oct.8th)

 

PROFESSIONAL: $25+GST/PLAYER                      AMATEUR: $75+GST/PLAYER

Includes green fee, range warm-up + lunch before play.

 

SEMI-FINALS: VANCOUVER GOLF CLUB (Saturday, Oct.14th)

 

PROFESSIONAL: $25+GST/PLAYER                      AMATEUR: $25+GST/PLAYER

Green fees are waived. Fee includes range warm-up + lunch before play.

 

FINALS: VANCOUVER GOLF CLUB (Sunday, Oct.15th)

  • No Fees for all finalists  
  • Green fees, range warm-up & lunch are provided for all players
