London Amateur Foursomes: Additional Local Rules

1. Abnormal Course Conditions (Including Immovable Obstructions)

Rule 16.1 applies.

(a) Tree roots. If a player’s ball lies in the general area and there is interference from exposed tree roots in the general area cut to fairway height or less, or in the rough within two club lengths from the edge of the area cut to fairway height or less, the tree roots are treated as ground under repair (GUR) and the player may take relief under 16.1b, including if the tree roots interfere with the player’s stance.

(b) Any fallen tree or stack of logs may be treated as GUR.

(c) Any area that is encircled by posts and ropes or metal hoops is GUR.

2. Penalty Area

Rule 17 applies.

When a penalty area is defined by a painted line on the ground the edge of the penalty area is the outside edge of the line and the line itself is in the penalty area.

In the absence of a painted line the edge of the penalty area is defined by the natural boundary where the ground slopes down to form the depression/ditch that can hold water. These areas are identified by Yellow or Red stakes.  In the absence of any stakes the penalty area is Red. All depressions/ditches have two sides.

3. Dropping Zones

Rule 14.3 applies.

The dropping zones are relief areas under Rule 14.3. They are defined by the painted line on the ground. The line itself is in the relief area.
