SCRAMBLE OPEN PUNTA CANA
TERMS OF COMPETITION
The LPGA Amateur DR Chapter is hosting the Scramble Open Punta Cana. The competition will consist of two 18-hole rounds played over 2 days. This even is open to LPGA Amateurs members and also for non members.
Registration: Registration will be conducted in two phases. Phase 1- Will open July 1st and close October 1. All applicants will be considered registered once they have filled the application and the payments has been verified. Each applicant will receive an email confirming registration. In case the field reaches full capacity , a waiting list will be opened and players placed on this list will be notified. Players will be confirmed if and once a spot is available.
Handicaps: Players must have an established USGA Handicap Index and have a verifiable USGA Handicap Index by September 30th Players with a Handicap Index exceeding 40.0 are permitted to play; however, their Course Handicap will be calculated using a 40.0 Index. To obtain an initial Handicap Index, a player must submit acceptable scores for a minimum of 54 holes via an Authorized Association. The playing handicap will be 25% of the sum of both course handicaps. Five strokes difference allowed between players based on the lower handicap index. All decimals will be rounded to the lower number if below .49 and to the higher number if over .50
Amateur Status: All players must conform to the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. By her application, the player verifies that she has not received remuneration other than as specified as acceptable by the USGA Rules of Amateur Status.
Rules of Golf: The USGA Rules of Golf and all local rules will apply.
Team Composition: Scramble Open teams consists of two (2) members who meet the eligibility requirements. The team Course Handicap will be determined after the handicap revision date for the event. This will be 25% of the sum of both player´s course handicaps.
Caddies are allowed. One caddie per team.
Substitutions: In case a player has to be substituted after the team has been formed, this new player must have a handicap index with a máximum of 5 strokes difference from the original team member. It this is not the case, the index will be adjusted to 5 strokes.
Format: On every hole, each team member may hit a tee shot. The team then selects one of the tee shots from which to play. Both team members may then hit a shot from that position. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed.
Each team member may place a ball within one grip length of the selected shot, no nearer to the hole, within the same condition. If the selected shot is played from a penalty area, bunker, rough or fringe of the putting green, a ball may be placed within one club-length of the selected shot, no nearer the hole, but must remain in the penalty area, bunker, rough, or fringe of the putting green. When playing on the putting green, the ball must be placed on the same place as the original ball.
Team members, including caddies, may discuss the shot and share advise for any shot. Team members, including caddies may not stand behind or on an extensión of the line of play or put once the player is addressing her shot (once the player has placed her club next to the ball or removed her makr from the ball on the green).
The scorecard shall be clearly marked for each hole to indicating the score obtained. It should be signed by the scorer and both members of the team indicated on the card.
Scoring: This is both a NET and GROSS competition. The Team Course Handicap will be subtracted from the team’s Gross score to obtain the Net score.
Players Meeting: A meeting for players will be held before each day of competition. Knowledge of the Rules of Golf and Scramble Open Local Rules (Hard Card) are the responsibility of the player. Attendance at the meeting is strongly recommended as additional Local Rules in use for the event will be covered.
Flights: The Committee will create flights based on the Team’s Course Handicaps, using the method explained above. The number of flights will be determined after registration closes. This information will be made available on the event registration portal prior to the competition.
Awards: Awards will be given as follows: First Gross and First and Second Net for each flight. Special Awards for closest to the pin and longest drive.
Ties: All ties will be determined by a scorecard playoff. The winning team is determined on the basis of whole 10 thru 18. If tying teams have the same score for these wholes, the winner is determined on the basis of the last six holes, last three holes, and finally the last hole . If this procedure does not produce a winner, the same process is followed using the first nine holes of the last round.
Appeal Process: Appeals on any questions, actions taken,or decisions regarding this event be made in writing (electronic or paper). Decisions of the Committee are FINAL. There is no further appeal process.
