SPECTATOR GUIDELINES

  • All spectators (including parents, relatives, friends and media) may not have any interaction or communication with the players. 
  • Spectators may not walk near the players, and must remain at least 20 yards from them and out of everyone’s way, including adjacent golfers on other holes and/or fairways.
  • Spectators must also confine themselves to the rough, and should remain away from the tees and greens.  Please do not walk on or across fairways or greens.
  • Applause and positive comments such as “nice shot” are encouraged to show appreciation of good play by all competitors, but spectators may not speak with competitors.  Profanity/degrading language/gestures is prohibited.  Treat others as you would want to be treated.
  • Spectators are not permitted to get involved with rulings and should accept the judgments of tournament officials.  Learn the rules of the game to become a better informed spectator.
  • Spectators may help look for lost balls but may not touch a ball or mark its position.
  • Spectators should observe proper golf course etiquette.  Use of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products are prohibited. 
  • If inclement weather (e.g., lightning) dictates the removal of people from the golf course, a warning horn will be sounded and people should seek shelter immediately.  All competitors should take shelter at any of the following locations:  clubhouse; pro shop; maintenance building to the right of Hole 5; shelters on the course at Holes 3, 4, 8 and 15; or the crossover building/bathrooms after Holes 6 and 12.  Other areas of cover include buses or automobiles.  Avoid open areas, hilltops and high places, trees, golf carts and wired fences.
  • Cameras may be used between shots only.  Photos should not be taken when a player is swinging or setting up to play a shot.
  • Electronic communication devices (e.g., cell phones, iPads) must be put on silent but may be used to follow live hole-by-hole scoring.  Search the App Store for the free app by entering “Golf Genius” and download the app with the orange icon.  The tournament GGID is 2023GIRLS.  You can also access the Golf Genius website for the event at this address: 2023nysphsaagirls.golfgenius.com.
