QUALIFYING MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS

QUALIFYING PORTAL: Follow the link for pairings, live scoring, results and player information. You can also access the portal by using the Golf Genius app on your mobile device. To access the portal using the mobile app, login using GGID: USOPEN-LAKE23

 

QUALIFYING YARDAGE: Follow the link for hole-by-hole yardages. The course will play 6,969 yards, par-71.

 

PRACTICE ROUND AVAILABILITY: Players may play one hosted practice round. Practice rounds for all contestants will be available on Saturday June 3 or Sunday, June 4 after 2:00 p.m. Scheduling of practice rounds in advance is not available. Players must see the golf shop upon arrival to the facility to schedule their practice round start time.

 

FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES: Stroke play competition conducted over 36 holes. The field of 55 contestants will compete for (TBD) qualifying places and two (2) alternate positions into the 123rd U.S. Open to be played at the Los Angeles Country Club in Los Angeles, CA on June 15-19, 2023.

 

The number of qualifying positions will announced on Monday, June 5 prior to the start of round one.

 

STARTING TIMES: Available on the Washington Golf website (wagolf.org) and on the Qualifying Portal. Starting times will be off the #1 and #10 tees from 7:15 a.m. – 8:32 a.m. and from 1:00 p.m. – 2:17 p.m. STARTING TIMES

 

PLAYOFF: In the event of a tie for the last qualifying place or for the order of alternates, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternates if necessary. All announcements regarding the play-off and start time will be made via text message and email.

 

ONLINE SCORING: A walking scorer will be with each group to provide hole-by-hole live scoring for both rounds. Scores will be available on the qualifying portal and by using the Golf Genius app with GGID: USOPEN-LAKE23

 

PRACTICE FACILITIES/RANGE BALLS: Practice facilities will be open from 6:00 a.m. until the completion of play. Range balls will be hosted on the driving range.  

 

CADDIES: Caddies are permitted. Players seeking a host club caddie can call the Tacoma C&GC pro shop at (253) 588-0404 to inquire about availability.

CARTS: Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a round unless authorized by the Committee.   

 

SPECTATOR CARTS: Spectator carts will not be permitted.    

 

PULL CARTS: Pull carts are permitted. A limited number of pull carts are available at no charge through the golf shop.

 

GOLF SHOP: The golf shop will be open from 6:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT ACCEPTED

Visa, MasterCard, American Express and cash are accepted in the golf shop. The snack bar accepts cash only.

 

LOCKER ROOM: The host club locker room will not be available for player use. Restrooms are located at the golf shop.

 

FOOD SERVICE: The golf shop snack bar will be open at 6:30 a.m. for breakfast service and will remain open throughout the day for lunch and dinner. The snack bar accepts cash only.

 

DMDS: During both Local and Final Qualifying rounds, the use of electronic distance measuring devices to measure distance is allowed (subject to certain requirements). However, during the Championship Proper, the Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect and prohibits the use of electronic distance measuring devices. UNDERSTANDING THE RULES OF DMDs

 

PACE OF PLAY: It is a condition that player must play without undue delay and in accordance with guidelines established by committee. PACE OF PLAY GUIDELINES

 

EVACUATION PLAN: In the event of a discontinuance of play during the qualifier, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the Committee at their appropriate starting tee. 

  

CODE OF CONDUCT: As set forth in the USGA application, the code of conduct applies to all USGA Qualifying and Championships. 

 

PERSONAL APPEARANCE: Players, caddies and spectators must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing. Shorts are permitted.

 

 

DRIVERS/GOLF BALLS: The Local Rule for Conforming Driver Heads is in effect, See Model Local Rule G-1. The Local Rule requiring that all golf balls used be on the List of Conforming Golf Balls is in effect. See Model Local Rule G-3. Please check the USGA website, www.usga.org, for a list of approved golf balls and drivers.

GROOVES: The players clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010.  See Model Local Rule G-2. UNDERSTANDING THE GROOVES LOCAL RULE

AWARD CEREMONY: Silver medal will be awarded to the lowest scorer and lowest amateur scorer (if not lowest scorer).
