History of the Dolly Sullivan Team Best Ball: This annual team event was introduced in 1982 in honor of Dolly Sullivan, who was the niece of American golf legend Francis Ouimet. Sullivan served as golf coach at nearby Milton Academy for 32 years.

 

Format:

  • 18 holes of Best Ball of four stroke play
  • Teams play their own ball on each hole
  • At the end of each hole the four-person team writes down the best person’s gross score on that hole
  • Gross and Net Divisions
  • All golfers will play to 75% of their Playing Handicap™

 

Teams play one 18-hole round during one of the two days

 

Handicaps: Amateur golfers who have an active Mass Golf Membership with a Handicap Index® up to 54.0 as of August 3, 2023.

 

Tees: Women will be playing from Mass Golf Red Tees from ~5,287 yards.

 

Tee Times: Morning shotguns will go off at 8:00 a.m. The afternoon shotgun will go off at 1:30 p.m.

 

Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. The official scorecard will be the mobile Golf Genius app scoring. Prior to the tournament, players should download the Golf Genius app. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. You will be provided a GGID number on your scorecards and that is the number you type into the app to see your foursome and enter scores.

 

Practice Areas: The driving range and putting green will be accessible before play beginning at 7:00 a.m.

 

Pace of Play:  Pace for this round is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Please ensure that you are keeping within a hole of the group in front of you.

 

Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the team before your team’s designated app scorekeeper and unofficial written scorekeeper reports to the scoring tent. Mass Golf staff will verify with the designated scorekeepers that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature.

 

AwardsThe Dolly Sullivan Team Best Ball has two permanent trophies that will be engraved with the names of the low gross and low net winners from their respective divisions. Prize Certificates (gross & net places) will be given out and must be redeemed at Crestwood Country Club.

 

Rules of Golf: The USGA® Rules of GolfLocal Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.

 

Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer to Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy.

 

Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Policies & Procedures.

 

Bathrooms: Women's locker rooms are available in the clubhouse which is passed on the turn, along with a unisex bathroom by the 18th green. There is also a bathroom on hole 5 and a temporary bathroom behind 15 green.

 

Water and Snacks: Water and snacks can be purchased at the patio bar before the round or at the turn. There will also be a beverage cart on course. Cash and Credit Card are accepted.

 

Food and Beverage: Coffee and pastries will be available for both morning shotgunsA cookout style lunch will be served on the back patio starting at 12 p.m. Alcoholic beverages are available for purchase at the patio bar starting at 11 a.m. Cash and Credit Cards are accepted.

 

Additional Information: Practice rounds are available on Monday, August 14, 2023. A time can be made by emailing the Pro Shop at proshop@crestwoodcc.com and providing your name.  The cost is $55 for the round and cart.
