FIELD LIMIT
The field will be limited to the first 102 qualified entrants. Entries will be accepted according to the time of receipt of entry and entry fee.
QUALIFYING SPOTS AVAILABLE
Players are competing for 25 spots into the 2023 Washington Men’s Amateur Championship.
In the event of a tie for the final qualifying spots, a hole-by-hole playoff will be used to determine the outcome and will begin immediately after play has been completed.
Players who qualify to play in the championship proper at Wine Valley GC on June 27-29 will be responsible for paying the remaining $125 of the entry fee. Players will be invoiced for the remaining portion by email and will have until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 18 to make payment. Players, who have not made payment by the deadline, will be replaced by a player on the alternate list.
ENTRY DEADLINE
Entry applications, along with the appropriate fee, must be completed or received by WA Golf by 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.
REFUND POLICY
Refunds due to cancellation before the close of entry are subject to a $10 service charge. After the close of entry and up until round one pairings are released, players who withdraw for any reason will be refunded 50% of the entry fee. No refund for any reason will be issued after round one parings have been released.
COURSE YARDAGE
Course yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions. Hole-by-hole yardages are included at the end of this document. Course Yardage: 6,738 yards, par-72
STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS
Starting times will be released on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Preferred starting time requests will not be accepted. Starting times will be posted on the WA Golf website (WAgolf.org), on the qualifying portal and will be emailed to each player.
SCHEDULE
18-hole stroke-play qualifying. In the event of a tie for the final qualifying spots, it will be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff immediately after play has been completed.
WEDNESDAY, JUNE 14: Starting times: 7:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
PRACTICE ROUND
Practice rounds are not included in the entry fee. Players may schedule rounds through The Home Course golf shop at (253) 964-0520.
FOOD SERVICE (NO-HOST)
Food service will be available at the snack bar window starting at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast, lunch, and snack items will be available as well as beverages. Full menu service in the Golf House Grill will begin at 11:00 a.m.
BOTTLED WATER
WA Golf will provide bottled water during the qualifier. Coolers will be at multiple locations on the golf course. A beverage cart will not be on the course during play.
METHODS OF PAYMENT
The Home Course accepts all major credit cards and cash as methods of payment.
HOURS OF OPERATION
The golf shop and driving range will be open from 5:30 a.m. to dusk.
RANGE BALLS
WA Golf will provide contestants with warm-up range balls on the driving range from 6:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
CARTS
The Local Rule prohibiting the use of motorized transportation for competitors as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect.
SPECTATOR CARTS
To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted by WA Golf.
CHAMPIONSHIP ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABLED SPECTATORS
WA Golf is committed to providing an enjoyable spectator experience for people with disabilities at WA Golf Championships. Requests from spectators seeking transportation onto the golf course due to a permanent disability, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should be submitted one week in advance to the WA Golf Championship Department. While spectator carts may not always be available at each site, WA Golf will make every effort to accommodate these requests when available.
Generally, an ADA covered disability is defined as a “physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of the individual”. See, 42 USCA §12102. Spectators with a “temporary” injury or impairment that is not an ADA disability will not be allowed use of a golf cart under this Policy.
Spectators with transportation needs must contact the WA Golf Championship Department prior to the Championship. This full policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies.
PULL CARTS
Pull carts will be available to rent for $5 in the golf shop.
CADDIES
Host club caddies will not be available. A player may provide his own caddie. Caddies will be required to wear a caddie bib provided on the starting tee.
GHIN SCORE POSTING
WA Golf will post competition scores for all players to the USGA GHIN System.
DRESS CODE
Players and caddies must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing while on host club property. The WA Golf Dress Code Policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies and will be provided to all players, along with any additional measures required by the host club, in the Player Memorandum.
CODE OF CONDUCT
WA Golf expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property during a WA Golf Championship. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time, from any WA Golf event. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:
- Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
- Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
- Damaging host club, WA Golf, and/or fellow contestant property
- Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or WA Golf volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
- Potential endangerment of others
- Intentionally violating stated club policy
- Violation of WA Golf Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
- Other conduct deemed unbecoming
The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.
STROKE LIMIT
Players must return a score within 15 strokes of the course rating during qualifying. Failure to do so will disqualify the player from entering a qualifier for a minimum of one year.
UNOFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL
After the entry deadline and during play of the championship, players must notify WA Golf and state his need to withdraw. Entrants who unofficially withdraw (by not notifying WA Golf or without having sufficient reason) will not be granted entry into any WA Golf Championship for a minimum of two years.
PACE OF PLAY POLICY
Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s Pace of Play Policy that is in effect at all championships.
LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION
Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s 2023 Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be in effect at all championships.
PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT
Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.
