TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY

  • This Championship is open to two-person teams of male amateur golfers who are active NYSGA Members. 
  • To compete in the Senior and Super Senior division, both teammates must be 55 and 65 years old, respectively, as of May 21, 2023.
  • The maximum USGA Handicap Index for each division - Amateur (8.4), Senior (12.0), Super Senior (15.0). See 'Handicap Review' below for more information.

 

ENTRY INFORMATION

  • Entries: Player must register online prior to the established deadline (see below). Entries by mail or fax will not be accepted. A player may only submit one entry. Any player found to have submitted more than one entry may be subject to disqualification.
  • Entry Fee: $400 per team
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on May 2,  2023). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Refund Policy: A portion of the entry fee, based on the schedule below, will be refunded regardless of reason if the NYSGA is notified (315-471-6979 or via email at deb@nysga.org): Prior to Deadline: Entry fee less $20. After the Deadline: Entry fee less $50.

 

FIELD SIZE, WAIT LIST, AND HANDICAP REVIEW

  • Field Size: 208 total players; 52 teams (Amateur), 36 teams (Senior Amateur), 16 teams (Super Senior).
  • Wait List Procedure:  Registration for this Championship is NOT on a first come, first served basis. The field is selected "low-to-high", based on the teams combined Handicap Index as of the entry close date. Any team that does not earn a spot in the field will be placed on a wait list ordered by their combined Handicap Index. A team that does not qualify via this procedure to play in the Championship will have their full entry refunded either (1) when they ask to be removed from the wait list or (2) once the tournament starts.
  • Handicap Review: A player may be subject to Handicap review if he does not have at least five scores posted in the previous 12 posting months. The NYSGA reserves the right to amend the field/waitlist at any time and for any reason.
  • Exemptions: Teams that include a past champion past ten (10) years of the NYS Men's Four-Ball, NYS Men's Amateur, NYS Men's Mid-Amateur, and/or NYS Men's Senior Amateur are exempt from the wait list procedure.

 

SUBSTITUTIONS

All substitutions must be made by contacting Jack Travers (JTravers@nysga.org or 315-217-1565).

  • Withdrawals prior to close of entries: When one of the players of a team is withdrawn, a player may add a new partner at any time prior to the close of entries. 
  • Withdrawals after close of entries: When one of the players of a team is withdrawn, BOTH players are withdrawn with a $350 refund. The remaining player will be able to re-apply with a new partner, and will be placed on either the confirmed player list or waitlist at the time of the new entry.

 

CHAMPIONSHIPS, FORMAT, & SCHEDULE

  • Championships: 12th NYS Men's Amateur Four-Ball, 11th NYS Men's Senior Amateur Four-Ball & 1st NYS Men's Super-Senior Amateur Four-Ball Championships
  • Format: 36 holes of four-ball stroke play
  • Courses: The Amateur division will play Kaluhyat (Sun) and Shenendoah (Mon) - the Senior/Super Senior divisions will play Shenendoah (Sun) and Kaluhyat (Mon).
  • Schedule of Events
    • Saturday, May 20: Practice Rounds (Reduced Rate)
    • Sunday, May 21: Round 1 (18 Holes) - 1:00pm Shotgun
    • Monday, May 22: Round 2 (18 Holes) - 8:30am Shotgun
  • Ties: In the event of a tie for any Championship, a sudden-death playoff will be held immediately following play.

 

ROOM RATE
The NYSGA has a room rates at the Turning Stone Resort for the Hotel, Lodge, Sandstone Hollow, and Tower. Reservation information is included in the tournament confirmation email. THIS DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU HAVE A SPOT IN THE FIELD - the wait list applies procedure (see above).

CADDIES

The use of a caddie is prohibited.

 

CARTS

The use of a golf cart is required, payment for which is included in the entry fee.

Complete Championship details, including information about practice rounds, pairings, starting times, and yardages played, will be emailed to players and posted on this website after entries close. Pairings requests are not honored.
