MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS


 

FORMAT, QUALIFYING PLACES, AND TIES

  • FORMAT. 18-holes of individual stroke play
  • QUALIFYING SPOTS. 3 qualifying spots and 2 alternates.
  • PLAYOFF. A hole-by-hole playoff will be used to break a tie for the final qualifying spot, first alternate, and/or second alternate. All announcements regarding the play-off will be made at the public scoreboard upon completion of play.

PRACTICE ROUNDS

Practice rounds on Sunday, July 30 may be scheduled by contacting the pro shop (518-869-5101). The cost is $50 which includes use of a cart. Additional availability is determined at the discretion of the host club.

 

PRO SHOP AND PRACTICE FACILITIES

The golf shop and practice facilities will open at 6:30am. Complimentary balls will be available on the driving range.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

Play will be from the black tee yardage, set to approximately 6,837 yards / par 71.

 

REGISTRATION AND START OF PLAY

Contestants may check-in at the pro shop to confirm your starting time. Report to your assigned tee, ready to play, 10 minutes prior to your scheduled starting time for announcements.

 

FOOD SERVICE

  • Complimentary water and energy bars/bananas will be available for players and caddies on the 1st and 10th tees.
  • The clubhouse is closed so no food will be available for purchase. The halfway house, located near the pro shop and #9 putting green, will be open (cash only).

 

CADDIES
A competitor may bring his own caddie or carry his own clubs. There are no caddies available through the host club. A caddie is required to wear an NYSGA caddie bib, which will be provided at starting during announcements.

GOLF CART BAGS

The use of manual or electric golf bag carts are approved for use at this qualifier, but are not available through the host club. Note that electric golf bag carts are approved for use but must not have a seat attachment.

LOCAL RULES AND CONDITIONS
Listed below are a number of important Conditions of Competition and Local Rules for this qualifier.

  • RULES OF GOLF; WHEN COMPETITION IS FINAL. Play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and R&A. Questions are to be referred to the NYSGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final. The result of this qualifier is final when the qualifier awards have been presented.
  • USGA LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION (HARD CARD). Click here.
  • PACE OF PLAY AND PLAYER CODE OF CONDUCT. The NYSGA's Pace of Play Policy and Player Code of Conduct is in effect (click here).
  • GOLF BALLS; DRIVER HEADS. MLR G-1 and G-3 as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect.
    • Visit the USGA website for a list of approved golf balls (click here) and driver heads (click here).
  • CLUBS; GROOVES. MLR G-2 as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect.
  • ONE BALL RULE. Is NOT in effect for this qualifier - NEW.
  • DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES. The use of distance measuring devices to measure distance only is permitted (click here).
  • PROHIBITION OF CERTAIN TYPES OF SHOES. MLR G-7 as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect.
  • PERSONAL APPEARANCE. Players must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing.


PROHIBITING USE OF MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION (LOCAL RULE G-6)
Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee. The optional condition prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures will be in effect. A breach will result in the general penalty, two-strokes, on each hole where the breach occurred.

REQUESTING USE OF A CART
A disabled player or caddie may be permitted to use a golf cart as an accommodation to his or her ability. As required by the ADA, the USGA will evaluate such requests on a case-by-case basis. To learn more and to submit the required form,

SPECTATOR CARTS

A disabled spectator may be permitted to use a golf cart. As required by the ADA, the NYSGA will evaluate such requests on a case-by-case basis. To complete and return the required form, click here.

WITHDRAWAL FROM QUALIFYING

To withdraw, notify the USGA (complete this online form, call 908-326-1950, or e-mail champs@usga.org) and the Official in Charge (see below) prior to the scheduled qualifying round. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from future USGA competitions.

 

PACE OF PLAY
It is a condition that players must play without undue delay in accordance with guidelines established by the Committee. The
NYSGA's Pace of Play Policy is in effect.

EVACUATION PLAN
In the event of a discontinuance of play during the qualifier, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the Committee at their starting tee.
