Inaugural Ohio Adaptive Open 

Conducted by the Northern Ohio Golf Association (NOGA) 

Seneca Golf Course, Cleveland Metroparks, Broadview Heights, Ohio 

August 5 – 6, 2023 

 

ELIGIBILITY 

Eligible Impairments: 

  • Impaired Muscle Power
  • Impaired Passive Range of Movement 

  • Limb Deficiency

  • Leg Length Difference

  • Short Stature

  • Hypertonia

  • Ataxia

  • Athetosis

  • Vision Impairment

  • Intellectual Impairment

While individuals may have other recognized impairments (e.g., hearing loss, impaired cardiovascular functions, impaired respiratory functions, etc.), only those players with the impairments listed above are eligible for the Ohio Adaptive Open. 

 

WR4GD Pass: Players are encouraged to have a valid WR4GD Pass.  A valid WR4GD Pass allows a player to receive World Amateur Golf Ranking points.  Further assistance may be found at: https://edgagolf.com/online/pass/.  

 

Handicap Index®: All players, including professionals, must have a Handicap Index not exceeding 36.4. A current Handicap ID (e.g., GHIN #) issued through an authorized golf club is required and must be submitted on the entry form. 

 

Age: The championship is open to players of all ages, and the player’s date of birth is required on the entry form. An application for a player who is a minor upon the date of submission must be submitted by a parent/guardian. 

 

Entry Fee: $200.00 

 

Entries: ENTRY APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY NOGA NO LATER THAN 5:00 PM EDT on FRIDAY, JULY 14, 2023.

Late applications are not acceptable and will be automatically rejected. The final field will be determined by approximately July 24; this information will be conveyed to all entrants via email. Completion of the online application does not guarantee acceptance into the championship field.  Players who do not gain entry into the championship will receive a full refund.

CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION 

 

Format: The championship will be contested over 36 holes of stroke play, using a maximum score format.  Maximum score will not be used for players whose results will go into the WR4GD Gross and Net Rankings. 

 

Field size: 60 players maximum. 

Championship Impairment Categories: When entries close, the championship impairment categories will be determined.  There will be a maximum of eight championship impairment categories: 

  • Arm Impairment
  • Leg Impairment
  • Multiple Limb Amputee
  • Neurological Impairment
  • Seated Players
  • Short Stature
  • Vision Impairment
  • Intellectual Impairment

Depending on the composition of entries received, NOGA may combine some of the above categories and place players in a category with the aim of making play as equitable as possible. 

 

Schedule:  

Saturday, August 5: Round 1 – 18 holes 

Sunday, August 6: Round 2 – 18 holes 

 

Prizes: 

Medals will be awarded to the lowest scorer in each championship impairment category. 

 

Rules of Golf: Play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the United States Golf Association and R&A Rules Limited, as well as any NOGA Local Rules applicable to this championship. 

 

Caddies: Players may provide their own caddie (and/or aide if applicable) but are NOT required to have neither a caddie nor an aide. 

 

Transportation: Players and caddies/aides may use carts. 

 

Field Composition:

  • Players with a valid WR4GD Pass will have priority in the selection of the field. 
  • Players with the lowest Handicap Index within each championship impairment category as of the entry deadline have the next highest priority. 

  • NOGA reserves 10 places in the field in order to ensure field balance and representation from key demographics. 

  • 10 spots in the field will be reserved for women depending on entries received.
